Is this the same honorable Bruce that walked out Wigan after two months to go to Palace then walked out on them after a couple of months to go to Birmingham. There's no chance in hell he'll resign when he'll get millions in compensation if he's sacked
Whatever your views on Bruce I can virtually guarantee he wont be sacked in the immediate future. We speak of Ellis Short being a businessman. No businessman in his right mind would give him money to spend, then sack him 4 games later, it would be madness. Bruce will rightly imo be given until December to see how his players gel and hopefully we see them improve and get us climbing that table. If things are still poor on the field then yes they will review his position, and should a new man cmoe in at least it will be around the transfer window when he can make more of an impact. Like it or lump it think Bruce will be here for the foreseeable so I for one am going to just focus on getting behind the lads that actually want to play for our club!
Parkersafc - He was a young manager finding his feet then + he would be a laughing stock if he waited to be sacked. Besides - he will turn our fortunes around. Anyone who wants MON needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Bart
Lose to Stoke and the fans will turn on the manager. Rightly or wrongly, 9 months of utter ****e is a good 3 months too long to just ignore and 9 in 10 games is 4 or 5 too many defeats.
Why do BiB's always talk about 4 games when we all know its really about the last 20 or more. EIGHT defeats in NINE home games is as bad as under ANY previous manager and if it was a Buxton, Butcher or Sgt Wilko in charge, the crowd would have shown its distain already. Bruce has been backed totally by the fans at games where not one call for Bruce out has been heard. Lose to Stoke on Sunday and that will change IMO.
Cest -this is one thing you are right about - If we lose to Stoke (and I hope we win, even if its a s h i t performance) the atmos in the SOL will turn very nasty, and I do not think SB would recover from it. Bart. PS - C'mon Brucey, you can do it.
Just one? I think you will find I am right on many more issues but I am far too humble to go on about it.....................much! Lol
im hoping it looks like P7 W3 D2 L2 F8 A4 Pts 11 Still it will probably go tits up straight away against Stoke
i am pretty happy that you think you are right, cos you'd be a pretty daft sod to spout things that you didnt agree with yourself.... doesnt mean you actually are right though.
I was under the impression that he built HIS team in summer 2010, after a season with Keane's team. I'm sort of wondering how many HIS teams any one him can get.
Hit the nail on the head Cest. Trouble is we are all looking from the outside in. Except Quinn of course. You can't get anymore inside than Quinn. Bit of a cheap dig to suggest I was using outside views to back my opinion. Just describing the reaction of one fan I happened to mention Bruce to. Up till now I've not wavered in my support for Bruce. He needs three wins in our next six games. IMO he'll get them.
I'm still happy, life is so much better when you are happy. Before anyone says,"Old fool", happy is allowed but does not mean satisfied or contented. Does not mean unaware or problems or backing Bruce without conditions. It means not letting things beyond my control affect my day to day life.
So watching the team every week, as a season ticket holder and in the pub for away games, makes me and others 'outsiders' where debating the performance/results/tactics/selections etc are concerned. This opposed to fans from other clubs that read papers (may as well make it up as you go) or watch 10 mins of a condensed MotD game, with pundits that are all mates together? Lineker, Hansen and Shearer dont watch every SAFC game, I do. I may not know what Short, Quinny and Bruce discuss on an intimate daily basis but I am perfectly placed to offer my opinions on the team and the club as a supporter. These are message boards not SAFC boardroom meetings. We dont make or dictate club policy but it doesnt prevent us from discussing it - AS FANS. To suggest that the fans are merely 'outsiders' in their own club, is a very disturbing way to view us all. You're struggling a bit to make an argument now mate. 3 wins in 6 games? What is it about our last 6 games form guide that gives you such confidence we will win 3 out of Stoke (h), Norwich (a), WBA (h), Arsenal (a), Bolton (a) and Villa (h) Would like to know which 3 you think we will win. Just IMO like.
I STILL say if we'd beaten the mags and been sitting around 9th or 10th now that a lot of our fans would look at things a whole lot differently (I know people like Parker and Cest wouldn't as they have vehemently asked for Bruces head but a lot of the recent BoB's have only joined because of the Newcastle game) That said - I was disappointed at the way we allowed Chelsea to run the game again (same as last season - just give John Terry loads of space to wander up the field) - but I was also disappointed with the crowd - there was hardly any atmosphere except for the last 5 or 6 minutes - which is when the players suddenly also perked up - if we made a noise for 90 minutes it would raise the players - I know that's a difficult one to do with the current climate but it's something that needs to be done. Bruce is staying at the moment - I feel that some of the BoB would prefer us to lose the next 2 games if it meant getting rid of Bruce - if we win the next 2 games it would probably save him - but I honestly think some Sunderland "fans" would rather lose the games to get rid of him. The Chairman is backing him 100% (apparently) so there is no point shouting for his head - it is unlikely to happen at the next game so the best thing to do (IMO) would be to get behind the team - whether you back bruce or not the players on the field are the most important thing to get behind so if we can get right behind the players then they may stop being scared of making a mistake and start playing their natural game
Of course you can have an opinion, we all can including fans from other clubs. Fans are outsiders at any club. You pop down the SOL now, see if they let you in. Sure as eggs is eggs they wont. The only time any of us are welcome at our club is when we pay for the privilege. I reckon our season will start with an away win at Norwich followed by a home win against WBA. Stoke D Norwich W WBA W Arse L Bolton L Villa W.
i will support the team, as I have done for the past 36 years, on Sunday like everyone. I want us to win but you are right, a win will only prolong the inevitable a bit longer. Bruce wont turn this round long term. A win every 7 or 8 games and a couple of draws is limping along of the highest order. If we lose to Stoke and if I am being totally honest, I cant see us wining it, then how much longer would the BiB's give their man? If we lose to Norwich will that be the game? Or what about WBA at home? If we go and win the next 2 games, or get say 7 points from the next 3, it will certainly change the atmosphere but does anyone really think we we can or will? Our recent form over the past 9 months would not suggest 2 wins and a draw in the next 3 games and thats a fact not speculation. If we were capable of wining 2 out of the next 3 and drawing the other, we wouldnt be discussing Bruce's management today would we? If we had drawn at Liverpool, beaten the Mags, got past Brighton in the cup, drawn at Swansea and not just lost our only recognised striker last weekend, then certainly things would be less fraught as they are but hey, we didn't. We dont have 5 points, more goals, a derby win or a cup game to look forward to do we. I'm dealing in facts, not what ifs.
