If Lo Celso is the calibre we need and it gets Janssen off the books then I'd give it a thumbs up.

    Bergwijn Watch
De Telegraaf are reporting we're preparing a £25m bid for Steven Bergwijn

On the one hand it's probably not quite time to get the sirens ready just yet, as we've been linked with him for the last two years, although if there is something to this (and Dutch papers are very reliable) it's a smart move for two reasons
i.) While there's a mosh pit of clubs looking to sign various Ajax players, notably Ziyech and Neres, while PSV are untapped
ii.) Even when clubs are looking at PSV, their attention is focused on Hirving Lozano rather than Bergwijn

Could we put in a sell-on clause for when Janssen gets sold to Barcelona

Judging by their games against Liverpool and Valencia, he might get a few starts.

Barca seem to have a thing for picking up Spurs rejects: first Paulinho, then Kevin-Prince Boateng...

    Have I missed a memo??!

BBC reporting we've put in a bid of £53m for Lo Celso. <yikes>

I guess that confirms Eriksen is off. And is perhaps a glimmer of hope that we're putting an end to our traditional approach of slowly slowly catchy no one.

That's a heck of a lot of money for someone who isn't all that young yet hasn't had more than one outstanding season.

Edit: Yes I did miss the memo.

Adding Janssen to the offer is the same thing as Arsenal adding £1 to the Suarez bid.

And it's going to be even more if we get him as the first bid was rejected!

Knowing Levy though, it's probably weighted by add-ons.

Not even the money clubs are going to meet the £90m release clause and Betis know it. In fact I doubt many will go much higher than £60m given the fact that he's good but not the hottest property in Europe right now. Where we'll struggle is, as usual, wages.

We've already got a one trick show pony who can do that. Don't need another one.

There you go again ....................... Lamela was probably our first player to understand and buy into Pochettino's method. Injuries have blighted the second part of his Spurs career but to call him a one trick pony is very unfair. On form he is still a player who can make a difference.

Yeah but he’s likely to be sold so we’ll need a new one.

Injuries blighted the first half of his career too. Remember the back problem that kept him out for 5 months in his first season? All the niggly calf injuries in his second? His best season for us by a country mile was #3 - the 'Leicester' season. He stayed remarkably injury free that whole year and notched up a solid amount of goals and assists, becoming a key component in our 'press' tactic.

And then the hip injury hit. Goodbye for another 14 months. Then finally fully fit at the start of this season hits the ground running and is easily our best player over the first few months. And then all the groin/calf/hamstring/plexor strains start to hit. The guy literally cannot put a run together. The fact that every season a different part of his anatomy seems to be cursed is worrisome. This isn't a case of old injuries reoccurring rather fresh injuries that the medical team will need to be mindful of in his management. He already trains slightly differently to the rest of the squad and has to run in a slightly unusual way due to the hip op. There has to come a point where you say 'enough' and put the horse out of its misery.

Were it not for his injury problems I would be offering him a new contract every year. He is that crucial to the squad and it would be almost impossible to find a player as good as him to sit on the bench most of the time. But it is time to cut our losses and sell while he still has some market value.

Yes a comprehensive analysis of the player, I agree CK although I am not as sure as you that he will not be able to make a major contribution again. Coming back from injury and slotting into a team takes some players longer than others and as always I am happy to leave that decision to Pochettino.

    Diawara Watch
Il Mattino are reporting that Napoli have dropped their asking price for Amadou Diawara to €20m, almost as if the club are willingly Levying themselves after dropping their interest in Trippier

In other news, is there any way this doesn't look like Marcus Edwards advertising himself to potential new clubs?
