Adam just has to settle to his game. He showed again on Saturday that he has an eye and the baility to deliver the long range pass but makes a mess of 5-10 yarders. That will come. Enrique is showing us what it is like to have a LB with the same abilities as Aurelio but who is not made of glass and that's why I voted for him. How anyone can vote for Coates when he hasn't played for us is beyond my comprehension. Downing looks like he's begining to enjoy his role in the side and the addition of bellamy (even as a sub) means that he is not the only player who has to inject pace. Henderson is what we knew he was/is - work in progress. Now gerrard is back in contention then we can ease the pressure on him.
If price is taken into account, surely Enrique, otherwise itd be close between him and Downing. Both fill a gap that weve had for quite some time now
I went for Downing, i think Enrique has been brilliant and has looks like he has been playing for us forever, but i picked Downing for the personal reason that i never really rated him at all before he signed and i wasn't too pleased that we did buy him as i thought it might turn out to be a disaster. But so far he's made me eat my words and i think he has been playing very well indeed.
Enrique for me. He has to be in the overall top summer signings. £6.5 million is a snip. I didn't realise how good he is. He's been absolutely fantastic, and has been in our top five star performers along with Suarez, Adam and Lucas, Downing has been consistently good.
I personally put down Downing mainly for his very good performances in each game. That was not taking into account cost, which if i did would have gone for Enrique who could be bargain of the season. At one stage it looked like we were going to sign him for 15 million so to get for 6 was brilliant business. I havent been particually impressed by Adam(only v Bolton did he play well) with henderson not looking anywhere close to a 16 million signing. Obviously Doni, Coates and Bellamy couldnt really be voted for
I don't think Kenny would have ever paid £15 million for Enrique, he pulled a similar stunt with Enrique as he did with Adam and bided his time. He managed to save the club a combined £15.5 million on both. I reckon if he hadn't been clever he would have ended up paying £14 million for Adam instead of £7 million and £15 million on Enrique instead of £6.5 million.
If you think how much we needed a left back, Enrique has to be the best value and has made the best impact.
I think enrique has definately been your best signing as left back has been a problem for you guys for a while now and he's come in and had no problem settling in and quickly becoming top class.
Enrique followed by Downing Hendo has been better than Adam so far for me, Adam has gotta stop givin the ball away, pass the ball on "the floor", and stop tryin hollywood balls. Adam is more interested in lookin good for the cameras, than being effective
gooner in peace Enrique has been your standout signing in my opinion. What a player, he's completely filled your hole at left back.
Enrique, Downing and Adam have all played well imo. although Adam wasn't at his best vs stoke. I really can't wait to see Coates though. especially with carra having a bit of a shocker so far this season - he needs to get his coaching badges imo!
To be fair though, he got £50m for a tired Spaniard, and needed a striker on the last day. Carroll's got twice as many goals as Torres in the same amount of time, plus he was injured for ages!
People are still using that excuse? that carroll has twice has many goals therefore it compensates wasting 35m on him? Or that hes even a better striker than torres? At the end of the day you could have bought someone like LLorente ( i know there were rumours that you bidded but thats bull in my opinion ) and would be a far better team than you are now, But eh if he turns out good alot of people will have to eat their words, i just think he'll ever be 35m quality.
He's an absolute monster of a player, as strong as a bull. I always knew he was strong but I didn't have a clue how fast he is, he runs like an Olympic sprinter A good example was against Arsenal, he made Walcott look like a snail in comparison. Absolutely battered him every single time. Also his runs against Bolton and one against Stoke were phenomenal. Probably the fastest player in EPL. Also some of his passing is brilliant, those dainty little lob balls he likes to play are superb.
