Honeyman as Captain was one of a few things we did wrong this seasons. He should not even be in our starting11.. This is what we miss.
Yeh I agree there was many times we should have played other players It would of given us more option But because he was captain Ross felt like he had to play him Silly that I think
The ref was bollocks - not biased, just incompetent. They were poor. We were just as bad. We were better in the outfield, but toothless up front. They had bugger all chances, but took them. Good night and thank you. I won't be posting for a bit while I get over this. Plus there's **** all to talk about now the season's over! Arse...
I thought we could get out of this league by playing football without cheating, fouling, diving, etc ... ... I was totally wrong.
Previous clubs: Harrogate Railway Athletic, Harrogate Town, Bradford City, Burton Albion, and Heart of Midlothian Yep those massive proven English clubs Harrogate railway athletic, Harrogate town, Bradford and Burton... Although he was signed due to Ross’s knowledge of him from.... That English club Heart of Midlothian... DICK HEAD!
Aye, you're right there Smug. Every time a Charlton player was touched, they hit the ground like they'd just been shot. Very poor tactics that worked a treat with that inept ref!
Just got back home today and was straight into graft, so just catching up with the site now. Firstly, massive thanks to the poster who sorted out tickets for me. I know he doesn't want to make a big deal of it - but he knows who he is. Hugely appreciated mate. We weren't good enough on the day, and we weren't good enough over the season, and got what we deserved. Two lessons for me. It's the third division, there's bound to be matches called off 'cos of waterlogged pitches and such like that need to be caught up at the end of the season. Having extra games to fit it due to the EFL Trophy just leads to ridiculous congestion. Play the kids next year all through the Tin Pot. I was one of those who wanted to take it seriously, and I was more hyped for the Final that any game up to that point all season - and I was wrong. Get some muscle in midfield. It doesn't matter if they are third division donkeys who can't play football, get some big lads in there as well. Charlton won all the physical duals and it wasn't the first time this season. Having a team of midgets has cost us.
Yes I think you're right. We've got a top class youth academy so they should be good enough for a cup run and if not then so what. We'd only lose the final anyway. Absolutely we need some big lads in the team, it's been what, 5, 8, 10 years that we've all been pointing out what a small and weak side we are and nothing's been done about it despite how easy it is to sign big lumps.
Why was Maja able to score goals for us and not 2 proven League one forwards? Imo Because he fed off the type of football Ross wants to play. Neither Grigg nor Wyke are fast and agile type who can get behind the defender. We can either change the way we play or get a striker or 2 (potentially Kimpioka could be one? ) who can play off our strengths Id prefer us to win promotion our way if possible rather than devolving into another league one side who (physically) batters other teams of the pitch. Mumba, Embleton, diamond, Kimpioka, molyneux... Why not use our academy ?
Totally agree FTM. They say size doesn't matter but it bloody well does in this league. how many goals have we conceded from crosses when we were unable to clear our lines because some big lump caused us problems ie Sunday's final kick of the match.. Think I can count on one hand the number of goals we conceded from open play, by teams actually playing through us and not over us. I'll not include the Coventry game in that obviously.
I'd go with two big CBs, two big CMs, one striker to do the job that Wyke was supposed to, largely as a plan B and the rest of the team can be footballers. I think that'd be a solid foundation for a team to get promoted and not come straight back down. We should have the budget to sign some decent players for these positions, with pace and mobility to go along with their size. The skill to strength balance of our team is all wrong.
