A blinder by Bowyer..again. What a huge stroke of luck getting such a superb young manager. And seeing Curbs in the stand at the end was an added bonus.
Well done Haddock's I look forward to a couple of good ols competitive South London derbies next season
A brilliant day yesterday, the feeling was as much of relief at the end because we all knew what was at stake had we lost. Bowyer was asked on Sky after if he was staying and replied “why shouldn’t I”? . Love it. As @ForestHillBilly said, another highlight was the Big Screen highlighting the embrace between Curbs and Bowyer - two very similar managers in many ways. The future was bleak if we hadn’t won yesterday. The enthusiasm for another year in the “Northern Miners League” was zero. Now we can look forward to trips to Leeds and Middlesbrough next year, and London derbies against Fulham, QPR, Brentford & Millwall. Although there was a lot of plastics there yesterday, any prospective owner must have been impressed by our support. We outnumbered Sunderland by over 5,000. Those people now need to come back on a regular basis next season under a new owner who cares for the Club. The right man is certainly at the wheel in the dug out now.
My mate and I shed a few tears when Baeur netted. He has lost his Aunt, Dad and Mum all in the last year, all were Charlton fanatics. I remembered my Dad who first took me to The Valley when I was seven years old. The only time I have felt this emotional at a Football match was when we returned to the Valley. We now need the owner to sell up and the new owners to back Bowyer in the transfer market.
One of my personal highlights yesterday - as well as seeing Charlton win at Wembley in the company of my two Charlton supporting sons ...was the National Anthem. A superb rendition from our supporters- I have posted it on Twitter.
I thought Wembley was superb, albeit a little pricey. £15 for a pie and a pint & £7 for some sweets I ended up getting a cab from Finchley Road to London Bridge after the game and spent well over a £100 on the day. Well worth it though. Great experience.
