That team would get crucified in the championship so it's probably better to (in an ideal and possibly imaginary world) splash the cash in league one and build a winning side than it would have been to get promoted and try to put together a good enough team to stay up.

The reality is that on paper apart from a couple of players like McGeady and McLaughlin we're not that good for league one, hence we're still there. I wouldn't necessarily blame Ross for it. For example Grigg and Wyke are both ****e compared to the likes of Lyle Taylor and have done **** all, maybe they're both players Ross insisted on but that's not always how it works.

We were **** and we didn’t deserve to go up.

We finished 5th in the league because we weren’t one of the 3 best teams.

I’ve reigned in all season but Ross is far too defensive for a club of this size way below our level.

It barely even kicked me in the nuts when it went in.

    Sunderland till I die. Sadly.

Disagree about Ross if you’re suggesting make a change (I do think he’s been too defensive this season though). He’s steadied the ship and did ok. There was never sparkling footy but it was effective. That said we need to walk this division next season as he now knows what to expect. I won’t write him off after one season. And I’m sick of the constant rigmarole of “change manager hope it works”. It hasn’t worked yet otherwise we wouldn’t be down here!

Gutted for you guys - conceding with 5 seconds to go has got to be one of the most gut-wrenching experiences imaginable. Whether Charlton were the better side on the day or not is irrelevant, that was so very cruel

All the best for next season, hope you can do it this time, and as a personal favour please smash Ipswich home and away too <cheers>

Not suggesting we change the gaffer mate, I’m suggesting the gaffer has to change.

We need to get at teams. It’s gonna be a weird summer. There’s going to be a lot of players away, and not sure who we can try and bring in. It’s going to be a real challenge for JR.

We were not good enough...did not score a goal in the last two games..players and manager to blame

Just to rub our noses in it, as we languish in the 3rd division, the Mags may have a new rich Arsb owner!

I blame Maja going (although not necessarily Maja for wanting to go) because that changed the way we played. Nothing sticks up top now, Wyke doesn't look effective in any capacity, so we're not putting enough pressure on teams. Consequently, he's had to become more defensive as the ball is coming straight back at us too often. He wasn't known for being defensive at St Mirren and I think it goes against his natural inclinations, so I'm sure he's got the capacity to be more attacking. As you say, don't know who he can bring in so it might be a case of shoving Mumba and Kimpioka in and hoping for the best.

Ross has got a big summer ahead of him, who does he keep and who does he get rid of? That's the big dilemma.
Keepers, get rid of Ruiter and promote Stryke like he did yesterday.
Defence, get rid of Matthews, Love and Oviedo (wages)
Midfield, get rid of Catts(wages again sadly) Leadbitter (think his legs have gone) Honeyman & Gooch (too small)
Forwards, find out what's wrong with Grigg and if it's sortable, keep and devise a game plan where him and Wyke/McGuire can play together.
That's at least 8 gone plus the loanees and we're virtually rebuilding the squad again which isn't acceptable, but I don't know that tinkering here and there is the answer.
Sort out what the futures of the youngsters are and if they are staying promote from within, which could give us five replacements.
As for buying, whoever we bring to the club have to be a big unit and can scrap their way through next season as we've been out muscled too many times this season.
Don't envy Jack Ross his summer, but I hope he enjoys his holidays.

I'd still hang on to Leadbitter....Catts looks certain to leave (my bet Sheff Wed) so we need that holding midfield player, yes his legs have gone, but has the nouse to overcome that. But agree with the rest...Grigg is the unknown for me. I'm given him the benefit of the doubt as I feel we signed him when clearly not fit...He needs a good start to next season for sure.

I don't think we'll see major changes to be honest. The big wage earners will go, I'd imagine, or have to renegotiate their deals. As for anyone else, it will be a case of whether or not the deal is good for the club. I think the side will look more like a Jack Ross side and less like a side cobbled together. That means a 451 or 433 set up, pressing high and playing passing football. The two positions I would expect to see signings in will be central midfield and centre forward. I also think there will be moves to bolster the attacking midfield/wide player options. At present we really only have Maguire and McGeady who offer a threat. A slight change in how we play might suit Honeyman.

I’ll be stunned if McGeady stays another season as well.

The midfield is going to need a monstrous amount of work, and we have to get at least 1 CB who is actually mobile.

We are going to need pretty much a whole team again in truth and it’s going to get tougher each year we are down.

Whichever way we slice it we didn’t deserve to get up this season, we finished 5th, and we need to be a lot better. Losing only 5 is only impressive out of context, the ridiculous amount of draws negates that stat.

McGeouch was poor early season but looked much better last few games. Would’ve made a difference in the play off final particularly when Power went off as he can play that role.

Yep. McLaughlin was rubbish. Or do you only pick players which suit your agenda? McGeouch looked great per season. Looked poor start of season. Looked good when he came back in later in the season. Morgan sometimes but not all the time.
