Sticking with Neath, Dai Shaw has told me that Glen Ball died yesterday; Glen had been ill for some time - dementia

A fantastic servant to Neath RFC - as player, captain and Coach.

Captained the combined Neath/Aberavon side against Kirkpatrick’s All Blacks.

My late father knew him really well and had nothing but praise for Glen.

Condolences to Eve, Jason and Joanne <rose>

Yes I read about Glen Taff very sad news. He was a stalwart in the Neath side I watched as a boy. RIP Glen

Glen was a really nice guy - as many of the old crowd were, people like Ron Waldron, Martyn Davies, Norman Rees etc

I see Ron & Norman occasionally.

Ron still goes to the gym - not bad for an 85 year old!

Can't say I'd ever categorise Ron Waldron as 'nice' though. Doesn't seem to fit somehow.

If you knew him as well as I do, I suspect that you’d think differently <cheers>

Now this what I call a tough game of Buzz - by Rowland Phillips

PLAYING THE GAME OF 'BUZZ'... WITH A FEROCIOUS DIFFERENCE

Neath were known for their fearsome reputation on the field of play, but what the public didn't know was what actually went on behind the scenes.

Phillips reveals how they played the game of buzz, a drinking game where if you get a number wrong you are penalised. That's normally by downing a drink... only Neath played it with a ferocious difference.

He explains: “After away games we would be travelling back on the coach and play buzz.

“It would be sevens times table and numbers with seven in it. If anybody messed up, the person to your left, punched you in the face.

“But if anybody thought that wasn’t tough enough, or they hadn’t punched you hard enough, you had to punch them back.

“As you can imagine, no-one was going to get punched back, so the buzz games we used to play at Neath became absolute carnage.

“People talked about our team, our fitness, the tries and the way we played. But what people didn’t realise was we were very, very good at our seven-times table.”

Alun Wyn extends contract for 2 years.

Wonder if he will then replace Bully as MD?

Nice to see him stay and not chase the buck. The guy is pure quality in ability and attitude.

He is being ‘managed’ to be on the next Lions Tour. He won’t play many more than 10 games for the Os next season - so an extension to his NDC makes sense all round.

It’s around £180k cost for Ospreys, £270k for WRU

The timing of renegotiations of the respective TV deals will be the key factor, plus CVC taking a stake in PRO14.

CVC are looking to make money - so I would believe that it is highly possible.

Indeed, why do you think the Ospreys’ shareholders decided to inject share capital into the business 3 months or so ago?

I’m also told that the English Premiership and PRO14 are looking to work more closely together.....

CVC and the English Premiership would ‘demand’ a Welsh team based in Wales’ second City - Swansea - so the Ospreys will remain <cheers>
