He’s worth whatever someone is willing to pay. As there’s two of the wealthiest clubs in the U.K. interested then £90m is quite possibly correct. There aren’t too many proven ball playing centre halves of his undoubted quality. The £17m we sold him to Leicester for was a ****ing shocking sale. Whoever agreed that should be repeatedly kicked in the knackers.
Not really. But if it helps you’re a bit of a tool. Plus let’s get this straight - YOU quoted my post. If you don’t like what I write or respond with then simply don’t quote my posts. It’s not that ****ing difficult. Even for you.
You have made absolutely no point of any relevance at all - as usual - other than some complete gibberish.
I think part of the Maguire sale value was that he would have been entering the last year of his contract (as usual for HCAFC) had he had 3 years left we may have got more. As for Robbo, we probably did under value him, but he was better going forward than defending and that aspect of his game has improved dramatically with coaching. We need to count ourselves lucky they got Bowen into a longer contract when they did, because as with many leaving the club at the end of June he may have been walking or going into a final year also.
You don’t see other clubs losing out when players are in the final 12 months. If they’ve proven themselves then you get more than one interested party which helps maintain market price.
And you just answered your own question..... Leicester and Liverpool were the only really interested parties. Robertson when Liverpool became interested was never going to go anywhere else. Maybe Harry Wilson being loaned to us in January of that season was a deposit on ensuring Robbo went nowhere else. Similarly, when a player enters his last year, he holds all the aces. He can agree in principal to go somewhere at the next season end on a free and double, triple his wages and the club holding his contract can do nothing other than pay him and play him. Aaron Ramsey being a prime example. It should never get to a point where players enter the last season of their contract without at least offering contracts, but we excel at that, Curtis Davis, Huddlestone et al..
How would you know how many clubs were interested in Maguire or Robertson? You don’t. If there’s more than one club interested as previously stated the potential for a good transfer fee remains.
How many clubs put bids in for them both? They would have been sold for more if more clubs bidded as they weren't it it quite obvious they didn't and where sold to the highest bidder We all agree they where sold 2 cheaply, robbo massively but Maguire was there or there abouts when you take Into account his contract and the sell on etc.. yes they are worth more now but that's because they are much much much better players and also the market has changed yet again since we sold them with more money being spent The fee we got for clucus was way and above what he was worth so it works both ways
The Clucas fee is the only time the allams have got a good deal when selling a player. Every other time we've had our pants down.
Shane Long wasn't a bad deal, though I wish we could have enjoyed the Jelavic/Long partnership for 2 or 3 years.
When routine bites hard And ambitions are low And resentment rides high But emotions won't grow And we're changing our ways, taking different roads...
Yes. 'Our' new reality is frightening. Great legacy Allam. And we are still 50mill in debt (allegedly) to boot. Utter business genius; best run club.
