Grandstand on a Saturday afternoon watching rugby league and Eddie Waring’s “It’s an up and under.” Naturally I took an interest in the team called Saints... just don’t tell the wife
Funnily enough it was Wigan for me - what with the likes of Ellery Hanley, who could twist and turn on a sixpence, Andy Gregory, Shaun Edwards and Martin Offiah who scored two of the greatest tries ever in one final.
The pedant in me wants to point out that it's just one 'k' - Niki. Incredible man. Spiky, bristling and brave beyond compare. I met him once and he told me to 'f**k off', so a good judge of character too! A real personality and a remarkable human that will be much missed.
So sad to hear about Niki Lauda. As you say Laces, one of the bravest. Just getting back in a car only 2 races after the horror of Nurburgring was an act of unbelievable courage. The only driver to win World Championships for both McLaren and Ferrari. RIP Niki Lauda
I do remember hearing or seeing Daniel Bruhl , he said when he spoke to Lauda about meeting him as he was playing him in the film RUSH . Lauda said " Sure , but pack light , because if I don't like you , you won't be staying long " please log in to view this image
