Very pricey there now man. Full of foreign students spending 15k a year! Loads of minted Chinese, Japanese and Spanish, from what I can gather. The gym at the STV is mega!
Yeah when I left I noticed it was full of Chinese kids in Mercs etc. It's a rich city, nice place tbf.
I actually stayed a week in Eastwood (near golf course) before term started when we were setting up. Was grim. Went into the quads (new, you probably don't know it) another week then they all came back so had to find accommodation during the week. We're done end of June.
Fifty quid a night out of term by the way. Single bed, in the dorm. Self catering! The campus Co OP is the most expensive 'supermarket' on earth. Excellent food from Asia and such like though. Not that I've bought any.
Yeah Eastwood was the cheapest block, ****ing funny place. I've literally lost my mind in those halls. I can't quite remember the name of the posh halls when I was there but it ran parallel to the back of the post office and co-op. It might have changed but Eastwood was always where the party and weed was at. 3rd year I moved down town by the Esso garage, student central. My son was conceived in a bedsit there!! I was pretty reckless back then, **** knows how I got a 1st in the 4th best psychology uni in the country, at the time. Not seen the leaderboards these days but I'm sure it's up there.
Call me a miserable **** but taxi drivers chatting on to you. Particularly when they're banging on about immigrants. Nice one mate, not only have I got to sit in your stinking car but I'm paying you money to listen to a xenophobic rant. I'd like to invent an Uber style app where you rate your driver on how ****ing quiet they've been throughout the journey. 5 star if you've said nothing except "where to?" And "that'll be £7.80 please."
£50 to live on top of a hill with no-one around? The sports facilities are incredible though, the England rugby team always used to rock up. I was there when it was all quite new and one of the best in the country.
Still is, the pitches there are superb. Lewis Moody still uses the gym ( former England flanker). Jason Gardener is around, was a sprinter, think he was part of 4 x100m gold winning team in one Olympics? Could be wrong though. Busy place. Really decent facilities all found. Was top ten British University last year, not just for sports. My bro in law went here, he was up behind the Esso too in one year. Larkhall area, right?
Amateurs ffs Only time it's even plausible for milk to be put in a cup first, and not get the backhanded nonchalant bitchslap is if it's been brewed in a teapot If making one cup/mug then let teabag sit for a while then pour in the milk.
Oh and cheap teabags "Yeah there's some teabags in that cupboard" Opens cupboard Morrison's homebrand
Not totally unrelated but a hot tea spoon on the back of the neck is a great weapon against nephews/niece's/kids you don't like. I heard that somewhere once
Never tried it. Is it the fair label stuff? Have a confession to make. When I started working for the LA, loads of folk bought fair label coffee. Thought it was rank. Was bought up on loose tea. Some of the older brands kept the names but moved production to different countries and some of the tea became meh. In my lifetime that is When I say cheap tea I mean the supersaver type of crap
The price is fair and that's about as far as my humanitarian side goes. I like it cos its strong. 2/3 vigorous stirs and its job done (no need to brew) please log in to view this image
I will get some. The stronger the better. My ex mother inlaw bought some cheap teabags once to save money. We were living with her at the time. She soon changed back to decent ones when she saw I was using like 3 bags at a time.
