So when we sell a player we're paid in instalments, and when we buy a player it's money upfront? What the **** Eire?
It gives us to spend in instalments what we receive in instalments Whether the incoming players are an upgrade on the outgoing players depends on how wisely that money is spent. What I don't get is this "what's the point in selling player X? We'll only be paid in instalments" We only purchase players in instalments, so it works out the same. I can't see why that's so difficult to understand
Ortas good deals (Saiz included because it could have been and we will get our money back at least) not including the kids Orta has brought in which have been a success for the club and the first team. Pontus £3.5m Klich £1.5m Alioski £3m Saiz £3m Lassoga Loan Forshaw £3m Roberts £2.5m Douglas £3m Harrison Loan Bamford £7m Total Spend £26.5m Ortas bad deals Sacko £1m Felix £500k Anita Free CBJ Loan Lonegran Free Ekuban £500k Bouy Free Cibicki £1m LDB £1.5m Ideguchi £500k Pennington Loan Grot £750k Baker Loan Brown Loan Blackman Loan Total Spend £5.75m 10 good deals and 15 bad deals which potentially cost us nearly £6m. Grot, Cibicki, Ideguchi, Ekuban will have value and Ekuban for example will double what we paid for him. The strike rate on loans has been appalling this season except Harrison who was more out than in
I guess this depends on your criteria for good and bad and whether it accounts for luck, injury etc. I think orta has been unlucky with some, guess that’s inevitable, but some of those in the good section are a bit of a stretch. You’d have to look at the opportunity cost of them and who else we could have had. Pontus was inking an option on a loan deal and a bit of a no brainer. Only Klich, Saiz (regardless of what happened) and Roberts are clear successes. Alioski maybe, Douglas good deal at the price but been a bit disappointing. How many do you think, ‘what a good signing that was’... 2 or 3? Were there strikers we could have had who would have cut the mustard better than bamford for 7m? You’d hope so.... but then i was happy enough with him when he signed it. Ain’t that the way.
To compare these two groups properly, wages need to be taken into account. Of course much harder to do.
But anyone we sign will also have the payments spread, you’ making it sound like we have to pay up in full when no one else has to.
