    Ok, to the point...

I am after having time to think, quite angry with our Chairman this morning, having slept on it. Oh don't worry it certainly didn't keep me awake.

You all know I've tried my utmost over the years, to make this a Scally abuse free zone, while at the same time he has to sometimes expect constructive critcism.

    So why am I angry...

I actually had some sympathy with the guy over the abuse he gets from the supporters. I even said so in the other thread, highlighting my disgust at the behaviour of fans I had not seen before after the Dover FA Cup game - it sadly left a lasting unpleasant scar on my memory, for deeper reasons than I will go into on here.

However, I did go on to say in my comment, that the Chairman does not endear himself to the fanbase. He's also entitled to his opinion, and like us free to air it publically, I have no problem with that.

Yet, as I also said he fails to interact with us in the same way the Posh Chairman does with his 'customers' (had to throw in an alwaysright word there).

So what happens, the Chairman writes a redemption letter, then in the next breath, he employs Steve Evans.

I mean WTF (look that abbreviation up if you don't know what it means) - EVERY supporter predicted Evans was coming in when Lovell abruptly departed without getting a proper send off, in the eyes of the fans.

It happened the same with MadDogs departure most of us had predicted Taylor was coming in and what a shambles that finished, I couldn't wait for him to walk out the door to never come back again.

It's like a politician during Brexit, hide one bad news behind another. Personally I don't care it sucks.

Mr Chairman can I please ask one thing, because I believe I know Evans better than you, even if not personally - If you do decide to leave, take your new appointment with you.

As Newport County and AFC Wimbledon have proved, we can rebuild a club with or without you.

The thing that discomforts me most about all of this is the disgusting way that Lovell has been treated. Evans's appearances at the club have gone on for many weeks, just about everyone knew he was coming and Lovell deserves huge credit for the dignified way in which he departed after a job well done.

So that being said how can the current mess be resolved? Scally needs an escape route to retirement and obviously thinks Evans can offer him one. I doubt if Scally has hired him on condition that Scally can play in goal (you never know). More likely he will want to sell up and retire and a successful short term period of success could increase the value of the club. With respect to the ambitions of the Chairman, if he wants to hike the value of the club he needs to install proper standards of what the City calls good governance. This means a separation of duties between Chairman and Chief Exec, independent directors, a proper employment Committee to determine pay and conditions for all taking account of performances on and off the field. Things have to be fair for the individuals and seen to be fair by supporters. Nobody will invest in a club which operates as a fiefdom for someone owning more that 51%. It will never happen.

So here is a solution for people to kick around. Evans is here now so let us make it work. His track record in terms of results is first class but his behaviour must change and this could happen with the right incentives. First of all there needs to be a link whereby misbehaviour hits Evans and Scally where it hurts...in the pocket. Every yellow card for the management pair (I assume we will be having Rayner too) means a 5% drop in annual remuneration. A touchline ban should result in a 10% drop. Any repeat misdemeanours and the penalty doubles. Same rules for Scally as Evans and also Rayner if he is coming.

This is all illustrative but it is needed to rescue the reputation of the club and to retain the semblance of a community spirited family club.

I did say in the other thread I hadn't read it all, it waffled on for so long my brain switched off. So why write a letter that slates the fans then within the same article bury an appointment mid-letter is that the most professional manner to do it in. If anything now you have pointed out my oversight it makes it even worse! Bad news buried in bad news is my feelings but hey ho.

Not having a go at you by the way mate.

ps. I've amended the wording to reflect my oversight.
