] "We all follow a black and amber team, a black and amber team, who used to sometimes play in green"
I sorted out my City shirt collection over the weekend - only missing two home shirts from 1988 onwards and they're relatively recent ones so should be easy to plug those gaps. Still got a fair few aways and if I can stump up the cash some more historical ones to get though. I reckon the green and white one above is my favourite from my collection though.
I think my fave now might be the 'New Order' Italia 90 England shirt. For me personally, it reminds me of last summer, the most I think I've ever enjoyed watching football. please log in to view this image
It is pretty obvious why Netherlands kit is orange. Germany play in black and white going back to the flag of the Teutonic Knights being a black cross on a white background and later the Prussian flag being white and black. As regards Italy, blue is the colour of Savoia, which was the ruling house of Italy from 1861 until 1946. Until then, the country's flag always had the Savoy coat of arms on it. So the national teams played in blue. It is only since the Italian Republic was established post-war that the tricolor has been the national flag, up until then it was the Savoia coat of arms. Don’t know why Spain play in blue shorts. Probably some reason lost in the mists of time to appease a region like Catalonia or some other one. Don’t know why England play in white and navy shorts. Colours are down to the national FA. Have read they chose navy shorts as the England rugby union team wore all white kits. Others say it is because of the FA badge being blue and white. I would have thought the logical choice would have been red and white. Having red, white and blue is wrong as those colours are the British colours not England.
A white shirt with a red sash on and black shorts? Good colours for any new club called Kingston United bringing together the two halves of a divided city though.
Yes, but in this one you asked why those countries play in the colours they do and I was informing you. Forgot N Ireland. That is probably because people associate green with ?Ireland, that only cane about in the early 20th century and blue is the colour of St Patrick.
Some people seem to have a thing about sashes. There aren’t many variations of it, are they? Neither which make anyone think of a tiger.
