Spoiler: GoT That. Was. ****ing. ****. That was so not GoT like it was ridiculous. It had a happy ending for ****s sake. Nothing in that last episode had me on the edge of my seat. It was bloody obvious Danys was going to die. I admit I thought Arya was going to kill her but I knew that scene between Jon and Danys was going to end up with her dead. That episode was so predictable from start to finish. Danys dies. Shock? They elect a new leader. Shock? Sansa refuses to let the North be ruled over. Shock? NO. NO. NO. All that episode did was tie up loose ends. I know they've got to do that but GoT is well known for its shocking twists. I so wanted that scene where they were choosing their next king/queen to turn violent. Greyworm could have executed Tyrion and Jon Snow like he blatantly wanted to. And then all hell would have broken loose. That would have been a more fitting ending. Really disappointing end to a fantastic TV show.
Spoiler: “GOT” Don’t disagree with you, Tom, but I don’t completely agree either. Sadly, in my opinion, if the show had been allowed to go on for a few more episodes or, even, one more series, there would have been the opportunity to do some of these things. However, once it had to be “tied up” neatly, there was no way Jon or Tyrion would be executed, nor that Sansa would be on the throne. There were too many issues to let that go and I think the writers did what they could within the remit of the time. I’d have liked to have known how the Dothraki were kept from slaughtering Jon after he killed their queen, why the dragon decided to burn the throne and not Jon and why Dani suddenly changed from a cold, icy queen with no care for Jon into a loving, “let’s rule together” person who allowed herself to be killed ..... too many loose ends suddenly pulled together. But, I’ll still miss it - I thoroughly enjoyed nearly all of it and I wonder if there’ll be anything to come close in fantasy tv programming over the next years.
Spoiler: GoT I loved it. Beautifully written and acted, and very moving, even the way Dany died. And a lovely touch to finish it where it all started, with Jon and Ghost north of the Wall. I suspect you would have found something wrong whatever they had done Tom, but short of writing your own show I doubt you’ll ever get what you want.
Spoiler: GoT I put a bet on a couple of years ago about who would end up ruling Westeros - I expect my nice 12/1 on it being Bran will now not get paid out as Westeros ended up being broken up after Sansa did her thing. Typical, a woman costing me money . Edit. They just paid up so that was a nice £130 back
I am with you Fran mainly. As a sensible (well normally ) adult I can see the funny side, but i agree just because he is a boring, obnoxious, lying, racist twat, we shouldn't condone the act - if it happened to someone else we would be up in arms. However, on balance and after a wine...it is freaking hysterical
Answering my own post (a sign of of insanity?). There lies the true British issue. Finding humour in dark places. Unfortunately loonies take advantage and turn it into something more sinister than humour. At face value it is just humour. However in 2019 it can be taken as worse (not by you fran btw), but by loonies. Right bed before I get banned by Chilcs
I don't see a way to stop people threatening violence on twitter (apart from making examples of a few) but it is a dangerous thing...the original moron who posts may have no real intention to carry anything out, but there are others out there that might. Perhaps it would be 'funny' to freeze the milkshake….well in that case why not a brick. A female MP was confronted recently by a man aggressively talking about a rape threat against her on twitter....she was understandably scared. Is this the way we want things to go? And as for funny....really!!
Phew Got startled when money I donated to Helen's challenge appeared on my bank statement as CRUK LOT. Thought cyberthieves were getting rather blatant
GOT: prequel set 5000 years before the original story is being filmed. Previously titled 'The Long Night' according to RR Martin. Only original character with be... The Night King! "Hmmm, practically my own gig set 5000 YEARS before any of those meddling do-gooders were born. Perfect"
I remember when John Prescott was pelted with eggs and he punched the guy. A few years later I saw an Interview with him and he was asked what Tony Blair said to him. He said Tony asked me why I hit him so I told him I was following his orders. Tony said what do you mean? and I replied you told me to connect with the voters
Spoiler: GoT I quite liked how it all ended too, it just felt so rushed. If Bran had been shown a bit more, it would have made sense. All we got was him going from zombie with no feelings, to suddenly being Bran again? The other houses also had zero reason to vote for him. We still have no idea what his motives/powers are as the 3ER. If Dany/Jon had been shown more in love, that scene would have had more impact. I also feel like having Bran in charge could lead to problems... Westeros minority report anyone?
