Just demonstrates that Webber is running a tight ship. Nothing is getting out about who we are actually looking at, so they've got to print something even if it is tosh.
I'd much rather "the Pinkun analyse the free agents on offer from Germany/Spain/Scandinavia", but I guess that requires effort. Or they could try and figure out who the astonishing signing we nearly made last summer is. There can't be that many players who moved last summer, and have since broken into their nations' international setup. Especially given it's likely to be central Europe.
I really thought that SW would be quick off the mark with the PL list to get players in as we were the first to be promoted. Buendia was announced very quickly last season and I expected that to happen this year. Then I think about how long Klose's new contract is taking. Have agreements in principle been completed and are just waiting for players to return from holiday? I have to confess that I like speculating about who might be signed and how we'll play next season. It's part of football I guess.
Well, I'm guessing we won't need Ajayi and Obi Mikel. But hopefully either / or would be a good start to the "swoop" season.
We didn't announce Buendia until 8th June, despite signing him in February. The international transfer window doesn't open until 11th June. Probably a bit of time before anything happens.
Also, any player linked with us may well want (or be told by their agents) to hang fire to see if there's any more lucrative interest from elsewhere? No need to bust a gut to commit in May, after all - unless it's a deal they can't really reject - and that's not the NCFC way
I still think Ajayi would be a good signing with immediate and long term potential at both CB and DM. More concerned that Mikel wouldn't fit into the squad ethos. I take DH's point about the international window so will ease off on speculations overseas. Rhodes staying on seems to be getting stronger, including the Sheffield papers now. I can see the sense of that as he proved a decent backup when Pukki was injured and I think we'll see earlier subs in the PL. He and Ajayi are both homegrown players as well and are already aware of the English leagues, so would require less bedding in.
Anything knocking about in the Borussia Dortmund 2 squad ? https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/borussia-dortmund-ii/kader/verein/17
That's correct, he was a victim of the double promotion. Managed to become a fringe player for the League One season, but was loaned out the following season and then there was no chance he'd be involved in the PL squad. Edit: Here's a mad stat, as a result of loanees returning to home clubs, and ten players being released, "...the Town squad has been reduced from 49 professionals to 34." Are we anywhere near 34??
According to "PriceofFootball", NCFC have taken out a loan this summer from Barclays, essentially as an advance of TV money.
Yes, this is looking like it could happen and it does make sense really. On 45k a week he's a big cost to the Wendies and they don't seem to want to keep him. A fee around £3m plus add-ons has been mentioned and the wages would be another £2m but for that we get a proven homegrown striker who knows our system and offers another option up front as well as back-up to Pukki and impact sub. That would then leave around £15m in the transfer budget for other players needed. Strikers are expensive, which makes this good business IMO.
