I remember having a VIP invitation from Scottish Amicable Assurance co to watch Glamorgan down at St Helen's, I was friendly with their local Inspector (Another Skewen Boy) what a boring afternoon, retired to the lounge suite for drinks to rescue my sanity!!............<laugh>

Went to Lords last year for the one-day test v India.

4 days earlier been at Wimbledon where I watched Anderson beat Federer in 5 sets.

The tennis was a much better spectacle - that said I did enjoy the cricket, despite the Indians not really going for it

That’s because you probably caught the bug from the nearby tennis courts Phil - I used to play there in the 70s :emoticon-0169-dance

As a youngster many moons ago I use to love playing cricket but as to watching it it was soul destroying. I did not mind fielding though. But playing rugby was my passion and watching Swansea town at the vetch if i was not playing rugby....I like most sports to be fair....

Just to slow and to much standing around, I imagine if you are a bowler then maybe a bit more interesting.

When there were regular cricket at ST Helens you could get in for free and in those days no pubs or clubs or shops were allowed to trade and a group of us in the summer would often go to the beach by the slip bridge with oue sarnies and bottles of squash and we would go to Swansea Baths and if there was Cricket on then we would go there also. A few of us would often fall asleep during the match...<laugh> A Boys jolly in those days were something to look forward to even though we were living in the gower and had all it offered around us.....Happy days...

A big win for Afghanistan this afternoon as they defeat the mighty Pakistan at Bristol. Not a bad warm up before the Cup proper<ok>
