There was no way the big clubs linked were going to sign him! This is a good move for LK, a good young manager and he will probably actually play games at Bournemouth, whereas he would not have at any of the others. For me, he has still has a long way to improve in his awareness and positioning. Good luck to him, let’s buy Kalas and Da Silva now with that money please!!
What a great move for the young man, going from one young coach to another, I will make a prediction he will play for England (full cap) one day.
Reported here as £17 million. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ing-Bristol-City-starlet-Lloyd-Kelly-17m.html Strange bit is loads criticised him as not being that good and a liability, but with this sale and the other clubs reportedly interested shows that some fans don’t know as much as they think.
Good luck to Lloyd. As for us at that sort of money there was no choice really, plus we couldn’t stop Lloyd moving to the Premier League. We now need to invest wisely, if we fail to get Kalas and JDS , with losing Lloyd as well our defence will seriously be weakened. Fingers crossed we get the recruitment right and push on again next season with the help of the funds gained. COYR
You get them coming out of the woodwork every time we sell a player. He’s only 20 off course he’s not the finished article and is going to make mistakes. I’m sad to see him go but this deal is good for everyone
It was a new club record 15 million and 3.5 million add ons Cracking business by city. Now sign Desilva and Kalas and Goalkeeper right back, midfield attacker, two strikers then we go again.
It's nice to have financial strength but we must have a plan, in fact the powers that be have told us so and that they have one, surely we learnt from last year, we sold our top 3 players, replaced them and finished further up the league because they stuck to their plans. Let us stay strong with our finance, controlled with our spend and progress with the people that have driven us further up the table, 3 more places up, we will be a top 6 side and we have achieved that progress every year under LJ. My main concern is it is rumoured that LJ is not happy with the proposed spend he has for this transfer window, according to reports in the Bristol Post.
After what I think is a great bit of business for all concerned I don't think we need to hear negativity and let's hope Lee gets the backing of Steve Lansdown.
Hmm - I'm hoping this includes clauses such as sell on percentage & if there's an international call-up. Of course I wish him well & Bournemouth is a good place for a young English player currently, but I'm sad to see him move on. £13m is a good fee, but not great if he goes all the way to the national team. I've been supportive of City’s transfer policy, though following last summer & now this (& likely O'Dowda to follow), I think it'd be appreciated if we could bring in a couple of exciting signings for the here & now to keep the mood positive & team competitive. Some excellent progress has been made & now the playoffs need to be a genuine target for the season ahead.
Most of us would agree Webster was standout last season , Kalas was not far behind, if a large bid comes in for Webster will we be able to stand in his way? , it seems Kalas isn’t going to return and also JDS is looking like he won’t either , that’s one heck of a lot of rebuilding to do, again. I do get we have to sell players, and as long as we can keep replacing them with less expensive players of as good or better quality happy days , but I fear one time we won’t be able to.
I would hope a knock on effect is more money invested into the academy and associated development activities. The academy one poster wanting numerous signings thought was a waste of money.
