Dani Alves supposedly said to be wanting a move to the Prem. Could a 1 year deal be a master stroke by us? AWB is supposedly committing to at least one more season with Palace and so if theoretically we sold Aurier and Trippier, then sign Alves for a season, with KWP his backup and “apprentice”, would anyone take that?
If he is in "pension mode" , he can eff off. If he is not, and feels he could bring some "old hand" on-pitch experience and leadership to help this Spurs squad make the final step as far as winning the PL goes, then I am ok.
Yeah that’s basically my thoughts. Born winner, think I read the other day that he’s officially the most decorated player in European football history, though might be wrong. A goal and seven assists in Ligue 1 this season too so wouldn’t suggest he’s looking for a pension payoff even if he is 36. He’s conquered Spain, Italy and France so I think similar to Zlatan, he wants to tick England off the list. Chances are he’ll join Utd or something but if AWB isn’t obtainable this summer I think Alves would make a brilliant stop-gap for the club.
Edgar Davids was a key part in making us a top 5 team and top 4 challenger ... Alves could really help our team take a step forward so a definite yes from me.
Ndombele Watch L'Equipe have reported that Poch has given Levy the nod to bring in Ndombele, with the club making a contract proposal - while the interesting part is they also report that "the offer is more financially significant than they have offered to anyone for some time", which on the one hand means we're offering a six-figure salary right out of the gate...although on the other hand, technically we haven't offered any player as much as £1.00 in the last eighteen months
Zlatan was sadly in "pension mode" with Man Utd, with an added bonus that if they got their act together, he might get some PL/CL silverware. In 2016-17 I have no doubts that if he was rotated with Kane (especially for the CL group stages) , Spurs would have got out of the CL group stage and got the 7 pts needed to win the PL title.
He must have surely though it was his destiny at one point, given he couldn't go a fortnight without being awarded a goal in spite of being clearly offside Hmm, who does that remind me of?
As long as any formal contact to date is respectful to both club and player, and not old school Levy, that will suffice for now IMHO.
He's on around £30k at Lyon, so by the sounds of it we're offering at least triple that - which is certainly a significant pay bump, as most of our signings start on 40-60k a week and don't get bumped up to 80k+ until a couple of contract renewals later In other news, we can start crossing off players we've been linked to as Bournemouth have completed their annual signing of a Championship prospect we were previously linked to
Widnae. Call me delusional but we need to be aiming higher than has-beens, incredible career though he may have had. If we do manage to shift both of the muppets currently vying for the spot, that should in theory bring in somewhere between £30-40m, more than enough for a down payment on a huge name. Wan Bissaka has committed to Palace for at least another year (annoying but definitely the correct decision and good for him for making it), but we need to start acting like a big club does. That has been Poch's mantra for the past few months. I want us to become absolute entitled bastards in the market, doing to other clubs what we've had to suffer for decades by purposefully and endlessly unsettling their best and brightest players, submitting derisory transfer fees attached to mouth watering salaries and agents fees so that the player itches for a move and goes on strike, etc. Cancelo or Kimmich for me. We are on the brink of becoming bigger than both Bayern and Juve. Let's start throwing our weight around. Even if they turn us down, our current players and the world should know without a shadow of a doubt that we are no longer the afterthought of european football.
I've long said we should move for Thomas Meunier at PSG as he's an upgrade on both Trippier & Aurier - and with him entering the final year of his contract, the Levying potential is high
Kompany is set to leave City at the end of the month. I would offer him whatever salary he wants and bring him here for a couple of years. Still has enough in the tank to contribute and is a born winner. It would be a Gallas mk II signing but 10x better.
I am Kompany. I am asking for 300K/week. Put your signature at the point marked "X" (and do not ask whether I will be capable of providing the extra 20+ PL pts your club needs to beat Citeh to the PL title) .
I agree with you for the most part. I'd have him in a heartbeat. Is he not similarly injury prone as Bale though? I mean, I'd take Bale too for some similar reasons, but many wouldn't. Imagine a back three of Kompany, Toby and Verts.
He is injury prone and I doubt we'd get more than 20 games a season out of him across all competitions. But for the voice of authority and leadership he could bring to the side. It is well worth it. 4 league titles, 3 FA cups and 4 league cups since becoming captain at the Emptyhad.
I’d take Kompany in a heartbeat, always respected him as a person and a player, very much in the conversation for the best ever Prem CB. Similar with what I was saying with regards to Dani Alves yesterday, players like that are born winners and that can really help ‘spur’ on a side. 1-2 year contracts for either of those two would be some of the best business this club could do.
