Surely if he is persuaded to stay he will get a new contract (more money) and will want some assurance that certain players will stay (no transfer profit) and possibly a budget to buy. All-in-all, that indicates he'll go since your club needs income, no extra expenditure and no increase in costs. If he goes, he club gets income and the new person will have implicitly agreed up front that the squad will be as currently expected after transfers out. It actually helps stabilise the club.
