So 4 games into the season and im confused to why so many fans are in meltdown.

I was at the Chelsea game and before the match i was extremely angry due to that greedy bastard leaving. The match itself was poor imo, despite Chelsea winning at a canter they didn't create that many clear cut chances. I thought Wes Brown was superb for most of the game and has looked really good this season. I dont think the mig is a good enough keeper yet, i will feel more confident when Gordon is fit. The main problem we have is that our midfielders are all too similar. I for one was very disappointed not to see Vaughan given a chance. Gardner didn't seem to do anything to be honest, reminded me of Tommy Miller. Catts doesnt really offer enough for me. Sess is arguably our best player but also he is out biggest problem, where do we play him?? Id put him on the wing and give him licence to come inside. Bendtner was decent, he should have scored in the first half though.

Gyan is a scumbag. Much worse than B£nt, to leave the best league in the world to play in Quatar or wherever he is is shocking.

I'm still pro-Bruce at the moment, but if we dont win against Stoke or Norwich that may change. He looked a broken man during his post match interview. He could have done nothing to keep Gyan and the people who blame him are morons. The one thing i wish he would do is play 2 strikers.

On to Quinn, i know we love the bloke but if we do lose our next few games i still dont think he will sack SB. In his press release today he mentions SB's recruitment in jan, which to me points to him not even considering getting rid.

IMO the team for stoke should be:

    --------------------------Mig--------------------------------
--Bardo-------Brown-----------Bramble--------O'shea (if not fit then rico)

    --Larsson------Vaughan-------Colback---------Sess-------

    ----------------Bendtner--------Ji--------------------------

Ji scored so should be given a chance. if O'shea isnt fit then it has to be rico at lb. either that or bardo at lb at elmo at rb.

    Our strongest XI imo is:

    --------------------Gordon---------------------------

    --Bardo------Brown------Bramble--------O'Shea-------

    -Larsson------Meyler-----Vaughan-------Sess------

    ----------------Bendtner----Wickham---------------

The bad thing is i really found it hard to pick our strongest XI. We have greater depth than last season and a better back 4, but our Midfield and striking options are not that great.

Most of the players we sold last season and the season before would walk into our team now. Hendo/Bent/Gyan/Jones/Cana(maybe) would all improve our starting XI.

I agree i think we are stronger in defence and midfield once the players settle down
We are weaker in the position we needed the most work done.

Stoke will be a tough game. I'm sure Sunderland will be alright though

I would have Westwood in goal because I worry about Mig and crosses

Reckon we need Turner's height, too.

A very good post SAFCforever101, some good points made.
The wide range of opinion in this, and other posts, on what our best starting X1 is, tells you something.
It would be great to say the team picks itself every week, but the wholesale changes to the squad every season (and last years injury nightmare) mitigate against this.
Personally I hope that after about 10 games ( and with Flash Gordon back) we at least have a more settled side.

4 games into a new season, and our strongest team consists of injured players, new recruits who we've hardly seen, and kids labelled as "one for the future".

Be better when most have a dozen or so games under their belt, then we will have a better idea..
