Sorry for your disappointment Lapras, it's a shame that you are not on this board more. I too enjoy the competitiveness of League One and The Championship, however Southampton did have some surprisingly enjoyable/good years in The Premiership before the last two downhill seasons. They were fun too. Good luck to you next season .
I don´t know about the latter, but I would not be super confident about the former if recent matches are the yardstick with precious little footbaling skills being displayed. Add to that KJs footballing philosophy which has not exactly endeared him to many PFC fans …..!
I'm actually a lot more fine with the result than I probably appear. Although I wanted promotion for my previously stated preferences towards the championship, I'm content with challenging for the title in league 1 next year hopefully. Plus, you guys were being so gleeful so I obviously had to get defensive!
Only if more of a footballing philosophy is utilised, and the Eisners invest more in the playing side as I don´t think cheap purchases from Rochdale or Shrewsbury or iffy loan signings are going to elevate Pompey any further.
Thanks, good luck to you too. For most Premier league teams now, including yourself, I think the only thing you can realistically hope to compete for is 7th in the league and hoping one of the usual suspects win the FA Cup and so getting a place in Europe.
Wrong FLT!! You know what entertainment is. Wait until June 1 and watch those men in brilliant white shirts put on a magic show for you.
When we were in league one, it would appear we didn’t bother with the championship ready side.... we boomed straight through that with a premier league ready side.
That SFC side had several PL players in League 1 - Lambert, the great Lallana, Guly, Schneiderlein, and Fonte. Even Kelvin Davies. The purchase of Lambert cost more than PFC have spent altogether on assembling their entire squad at the moment. In the Championship season Cork was purchased so SFC went into the PL with a mix of PL and Championship standard players. Not sure the same can be said about either Norwich or Sheffield United.
You already had the infrastructure though, which is a substantial advantage. Its no secret that improving the infrastructure at Fratton Park in the short term with a view to a substantial redevelopment or moving to a new stadium is a priority. Plus, with the increase in parachute payment and money in the league as a whole, I would argue the championship of 2019 is a very different beast to that of 2011, more expensive and competitive.
