Interesting little snippet from Niall today... "The olive branch is now there for Asamoah, but he will need to convince STEVE, the Board and every Sunderland fan of his commitment to this club if he is to return." Gyan is away for a year at least I believe... Reading between the lines, the extract above seems to suggest Quinn has absolutely no intention of sacking Bruce.
I don't think they have had any intention of sacking him after 4 games as it would be too costly. His team have not had time to gell He has to be given at least untill xmas to get HIS team playing. If bottom in Jan then Quinn has no choice Come on Brucie prove us all wrong Oh and get Vaughan in that team somewhere
Its not up to Quinn anyway, all comes down to Short. If Short is not happy he will sack him, and possibly Quinn....
We wont be anywhere near relegation come Xmas and Bruce will still be our manager when we are all digging in to our Turkey. I'm convinced of it.
I think these are the noises that had to be made with a big game coming up against Stoke, they.have to appear positive. Meanwhile behind the scenes be damn certain Ellis Short is asking questions about a potential successor to Bruce if we don't start winning games. If they aren't then the phrase 'iceberg right ahead' will be all too apt. If we lose to Stoke he surely can't still be in the job for the next fixture. I hope to god.we do beat Stoke.
Anyone loking in from the outside would think it was utter madness to sack our manager after four games, following our highest league placing for years last season...
Funny you should say that MrRAWhite. I mentioned that Bruce was under pressure and could face the chop to a West Ham fan. He honestly thought I was taking the piss.
Lets see how things are if he loses to Stoke, Norwich and WBA. Regardless of this statement Bruce wont survive the fans wrath if that happens. Anything less than 2 home wins in the next 2 games and you will see the crowd turn massively. Oh and lets not forget, the club made a statement on Friday relating to Asamoah Gyan's future at the club and what a load of ****e that turned out to be as well. If Steve Bruce is still our manager this time next year, it will as a championship one. Of that I have no doubts whatsoever.
This is how it will look. P.7. W.0. D.2. L.5. Languishing in the bottom 3. If he loses to Stoke do we really think he'll be given the opportunity to lose against norwich and west brom?
Thats the problem with people from the outside though. They dont see what is actually happening. I prefer to make my judgment(s) on what I am actually seeing, not being told or reading about from uninformed sources. Its really coming to something when it requires Bruce supporters to get 'outside' points of view to back their man? Bruce is finished is what I see about the club and no outsider with absolutely no idea about the club can convince me otherwise.
I think its going to be a very difficult 3 games. This time last year we would have expected to win all 3. This season we should expect the same. For me we need 7 points from the next 3 games. I expect we will get 4 maybe only 3. But I am going to look on the bright side. If we get 9 points then things will look a lot better.
Bookies aren't convinced. Bruce was 7/1 to be first to go this morning. He's still 7/1 half an hour ago.
Totally agree - in our current predicament the time to judge will be at the end of October. I am sure by then we will have points on the board, performances will be better and we will have stuffed Villa, giving Bent the "bird" at the same time. If not, then I am pretty sure SB will not have to wait to be sacked, he will walk as I believe he is an honourable man. Us fans can do our bit by copying the Brittania Stadium and turning the SOL into a cauldron of noise. C'mon me bonny lads. Bart
This Bruce supporter says let's wait and see where we are in December. I cannot agree with the current "Bruce out" hysteria, after only 4 league games. As I said yesterday , let's give the man a chance to improve things
