Andrew Haigh, the main LUFC-Supporting journo on twitter, has just tweeted that he has discovered this report: http://translate.google.co.uk/trans...vottelee-englannin-entisen-mahtiseuran-kanssa 29 years old, CM, 54 Finland Caps
According to Wiki he signed with Red Bull Saltzburg today? Could be wrong but I imagine he was not tempted by the Leeds offer of £125.47p per week and he had to buy his own shirt.
Only line I really understood: "the famous Leeds United" . But seriously what I can read into it seems to suggest he was on the verge of signing for RBS but decided to come to us to negotiate a deal late in the day.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...8/Leeds-United-set-to-sign-Mika-Vayrynen.html dont know much about either but Vayrynen would be a permanent signing which is welcome if he is up to the job & Wilson is a CB currently on the books at Liverpool who also can play left back.
Bucks Wilson would be a first 11 player for me and that other guy squad player! Forssell looked decent on Saturday albeit a bit fat haha
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mika_Väyrynen_(footballer) Looking at the clubs he's played for these last few years, looks like he should be a fairly good player. Missed a bit through injury though and maybe that's why he's without a club now.
Wilson would be a good signing, but he's only 19, and with a defence that already has Tom Lees and Aidy White in it, it would be a very young team. I'd rather Connolly comes into the team and Tom Lees moves into the centre than we sign another defender. Kisnorbo clearly isn't playing well, O'Dea has been okay, but the defence is still conceding. We already have 6 centrebacks in the squad...
Wiki has changed and now the link confirming he had signed for Salzburg is no more..... If he joins I hope they just put Mika on his shirt. If not for a nickname we can call him "Rankka" it means big/hard in Finnish....
If & I mean if we get these two the season will look up.... It would give us a very young but talented (mostly) international line up: Lonergan (Englands no. 3) Lees (Homegrown) Wilson (Scotland international) O'Dea (Irish International) Taylor (Homegrown) Clayton (England U20) Mika (Finnish International) Howson (England U21) Snodgrass (Scotland international) McCormack (Scotland international) Becchio (Argentinan Wonder)
Did a couple of searches on him and the pertinent information seems to be this: 1. His name is pronounced vay-run-en, if anyone's interested! 2. He's regarded as more of a box-to-box sort 'with an eye for goal' than a defensive midfielder as the YEP would have you think, being the shameless propaganda merchants that they are. 3. His decent goal record further suggests he's a fairly attacking player. 4. He has dodgy knees. 5. Him and Forssell will know each other very well from the international dressing room.
The Finnish fans knocking about on a couple of boards seem to be suggesting he can operate as an attacking or defensive midfielder, seems similar to Clayton. Lonergan may not be England's No. 3 but he should be. Better than Frank Fielding? Definitely.
