Because that is why I am pleased we are still in the Prem? Pretty obvious really. Clubs also don't need fans, money in the Prem is enough. Why you have Ashley still in charge of Newcastle. If the owner doesn't care what the fans think, the fans can do little
I'm just going to leave it there anyways. I will wait and see what happens, if **** hits the fan it has been nice knowing you all. If it doesn't then that's look forward to another season.
If they actually have 24m to pay over three years, it doesn't matter. But companies with 8m+ a year to throw at a single avenue of advertising generally have high-eight or nine-figure annual revenues. Or, like, a business.
Have they even got any cash, let alone enough to cover this deal? Are you happy that Saints could be offering out multi million pound contracts on the back of funds that look shady at best? The club doesn't even seem to know when this 'firm' started up ffs.
What can I do about it? I can either accept it is shady but part if how the Prem is or walk away from Saints.
It's not how the Prem normally operates, though. That's kinda the thing; if we were sponsored by an established Asian gambling firm, I wouldn't be terribly enthused, but that is par for the course these days. But right now, 19 clubs are sponsored by companies about which information is readily available on the internet, and all have lots of coin. We're sponsored by a company that doesn't yet exist despite existing for years, which has 200 football centres but is an online business, but whose website was a placeholder that got taken down after people started laughing at it (and/or because it made all manner of claims that appear to be totally untrue). That's not normal.
I’ll be devastated if Saints were dragged into financial ruin due to a dodgy owner or shady dealings. I don’t know if we have either yet, so I can only wait and see. I would say that it doesn’t feel as comfortable as a being owned by an apparently gentle Swiss billionaire. Personally I’m not worrying about it but it is fair for people to raise some questions, especially if they’ve looked a little further into it than I have.
You can't do anything to affect what is happening. We don't even really know what is happening. But those aren't the only options, it's not black or white. You can question stuff that is dodgy AND still support Saints. If it's one or the other for you that's fine too though, but there are a lot of greys that probably the majority of fans operate in.
But if you stay supporting Saints that is you accepting that it is part of the Prem. Whether you like it or not, that is my point.
I am on about the Prem being shady like: Man City are owned by a regime that kills people. Chelsea owner can't even get in the country. Etc That is what I mean by shady, the Prem is full of it. We have no idea who this shirt sponser is and where they are getting the money from. But at the end of the day like I said before, does it matter as long as they pay up? The Prem is built on shady deals sadly.
I understand that this looks very suspicious, But it's a sponsor, if anything did come to light we would just cancel the deal and find someone else. Couldn't care as long as they are giving us the money.
What's not normal? A startup company having investors and hiring a website designer to make a mockup website and paying for promotion for its launch? I have doubts over its ability to sustain itself over the length of the contract due to its lack of track record but all of the above is pretty standard for a company starting up at the high end. I've made up **** like that when making mock ups too.
That website wasn't claiming they were a startup. That website claimed that they'd been in business for years, had a strategic partnership with (among others) Borussia Dortmund, and operated an empire of centres worldwide. Having a public-facing mockup isn't terribly normal, especially one replete with wild claims, and it definitely isn't normal to have it be your only public representation on the day you go live with an eight-figure marketing deal, given that you're paying for eyeballs, and you'll never get more eyeballs than on the day that deal is announced.
No that's pretty normal. I've made wild figures while creating mockups for data presentations that would be presented later to the board. It both makes them smile and shows them you are on board with the company goals. Also was that public facing? How was this website found? The one linked to by the club was clearly different.
Bill did say it’s about where it sits on HIS moral compass. A source close to bill told me he eats children. If you think that’s morally wrong chances are you won’t see eye to eye on money.
The website was found by Googling the company's name. It was one of the first things that came up when searching for the company, and the only thing that could be found by searching for the company that actually contained information, as the one linked by the club merely said "coming soon" (actually, it does direct you to follow them on social media; they do not appear to have a social media presence). Now, because their website merely says "coming soon", and the squirrel-and-elderly-lady site has been taken offline, the first hit in a search for the company is an article about how sketchy the deal looks, heh. Edit: one of the other first hits is, confusingly, Lee Dixon's football school, also named LD Sports. Another edit: their main page cycles through a bunch of pictures of football stadia which aren't SMS, and appear as if they might be still shots from a computer game.
Didnt West Ham have to cancel a sponsor deal a few season back, something to do with an Airline going bust. Dodgy as **** that was.
Right so. ----- Company contacts website designer, gives them a brief on the company and its goals and asks them to make a website and gives them the specifications Website designers make website using the company goals as filler. It puts the website online so that the company can show it to everyone they need to when in meetings with other buisnesses and such without needing to give them access to an intranet. (Because higher ups would have no idea how to do that). Company agrees deal with us and Southampton need to announce it. They link to the real location for the website when it is completed. Public get a hold of mock up. Company realise and take it off line straight away as it's not the real one. ------ Honestly it just doesnt seem at all strange to me.
