Yeah it’s a difficult one as it’s a valid word to use.. however we all know it was used in context around hillsborough. Whether this songs makes reference to it or not, who knows but it’s sinilar to other words and phrases when out alongside other things it has a much greater and darker meaning.
Definitely worthy of mention, as being something nowhere near as bad as being physically assaulted. I don't think you believe it's class to sing about people being physically assulated, except for the "RS" you make an exception for.
It was never used in reference to Hillsborough. We used to sing it, until you lot made that false correlation. Threads like this are exactly what that comment references.
Cmon tobes put the wumming to one side, everyone knows that when using the word victim in reference to Liverpool it’s automatically connected to hillsborough. Rightly or wrongly that’s what people think these days so just don’t use it.
I think that exactly how offending someone works, just because you think it doesn't offend someone doesn't mean that it doesn't.
I’m not wumming at all. We used to sing it at every derby, until you lot decided it was about Hillsborough. It was never about that, it was about the general victim mentality that seems to be inherent at your club. Offended by everything. We no longer sing it due to the wrong meaning you applied to it, as we’ve always stood side by side with Liverpool over that issue.
Exactly. Whether it initially meant it or not, it doesn’t matter because now it has that connection. The fact you guys don’t sing it because of it clearly reiterated that point no?
You know that’s not how it works. Were you peddling that line when Suarez got banned for racism against evra? Maybe go up to an ethnic minority and use a derogatory word and say ‘no offence given’ and see where that gets you
It's certainly not a song that compliments us and as discussed some may see parts of the song in ways that are very insulting and possibly shameful. There are these types at every club and I'm sure they don't represent the club as a whole but with players being involved it looks that much worse. I doubt the players would understand the possible context of the song and probably just joined in with the chorus, I'd like to think so anyway. Man City should probably be reminded that in the modern world everything they do can be recorded and recycled so think before acting.
Oh come on, you know that’s not the same scenario, as that’s down to the racially motivated words used. In the scenario here, you’re adding a meaning that’s not meant and taking offence to it.
Threatening the ban hammer as you don’t like my opinion is piss weak and also against the rules of the forum. I’ve not said anything that’s out of order here, you just don’t like it, as your mind is set.
**** off tobes what rules? I asked you not to be a dick so you ****ed off last night after so don't start back up now.
I didn’t even read your post last night mate, as I went to bed before you posted it.... As for rules, you can’t ban people at will merely because you don’t like the content of their posts. I wasn’t being a dick, I was challenging the nonsense that the City chant was about Sean Cox fella. The suggestion started on twitter btw, and it’s been laughed out of town, the battered on the streets comment refers to the Ultras in Kiev btw.
