14 years old and pulling up trees... come to United lad, Lingard will make sure you know how to do the Botty Wap and wear pink Swarovski Cycling shorts with a suit jacket.

That's the thing. In the past when only very few clubs were really rich United could pick the best players. Have a choice of those who fitted the team best. Nowadays the risk is getting a second choice player who cost a lot but who actually does not fit or not that hungry to do well. We need a Roy Keane or a Robson. Who can galvanise people on the pitch and has the respect of everyone else. Who have we got at the moment that the players can look up to for support an advice?

Can think of two or three notable posters who tripped out that Moyes took over a team of champions and it was as simple as that, but it certainly wasn't everyone.

But, whatever. What I think most of us agree is the need for DoF with an idea of what we need going forward the next decade and also that we have no real captain/leader in the side so we have to buy that.

Maguire could be good, and I think Rice has that make up, and we should sign an experienced centre half to coerce it out of Lindelof more. Cahill could even be a decent short term signing in that respect, as has been mentioned.

Be nice if we could get that out of Pogba too to be honest.

Our new keeper needs that as well.

Some worrying news that Joel Glazer has blocked Solksjaer from selling Antony Martial. We might as well forget about anything that looks like sustained success until that old decrepit vermin is dead.

    Yeah, just read that now.

Odd really, as they'd no doubt make a sizable profit they can stick in their back pocket.

If this is the case, and it looks like we could end up with both him and Pogba staying, someone has to somehow get both performing. Both should be great players though, it's ridiculous how demotivate they both are.

Good to know that Ole is truly in charge though, eh?

In that case, if Ole doesn't want him and/or he doesn't perform, he should just bench him or not put him in the squad for as many games.

Martial will continue frustrating the fans for his entire career, he’ll waste most of his talent and blame others for it.

Pogba won’t stay, not if he can get out of the club and earn the same at Real/PSG. Evra has practically confirmed that today and Evra was with Pogba only a few days ago.

Someone's got to buy him though.

PSG could be an option but it's hardly the move he thinks he warrants.

They'll pay his wages though so.......

Real Madrid is the obvious choice, I’d give him 3 months there before their great fans turn on him.

I’d imagine they will think they can force us to take Bale and things will work out great but hopefully we tell them to get ****ed or as a last resort we take him on loan.

That is absolute ****. How can the player be motivated knowing that the manager doesn't fancy him but cannot sell him? That is such a ****ing crap situation. No wonder Mourinho (and I am no fan) was acting weird. He was not being supported by the club so he decided to take matters into his own hands. OGS hasn't got that power. That ****ing DOF cannot come soon enough. Not sure it will make that much difference but 2 voices better than one against the bloody GGs.

Bale as a direct replacement, playing through the middle behind the striker?

Three obvious sticking points; age, injuries and wages. He could be another Sanchez or he could work out very well. Bringing him on on the current wages just upsets the apple cart again though, he'd have to earn far less, which isn't that simple.

Coming the other way I'd rather Kroos, Isco or Varane. Or, preferably, one of the first two, plus Varane.

We'll probably end up with Modric. With zimmer frame under arm.

Just reading the papers today we're apparently buying anything that moves. Hard to take anything seriously it's so ridiculous at times.

Another reason I hope we bring in players sooner rather than later as we'll have a whole summer of speculation and probably end up signing no one.

    Edit: Or Fellaini

Goes with the territory mate, we have silly money and pay big wages so all these agents are starting fires all over the place.

The only one we have been linked with who possibly excites me is Joao Felix, well, and Dybala but I think the latter is just ridiculous as he wouldn’t join us.

Yeh plus the situation we're in and everyone expecting a rebuild.

Sancho would be another I think would be great but unlikely. We're supposed to be the only PL club wanting him apparently. But slight matter of Barca, Real and PSG also in for him.

Sancho looks great but we need to be careful there. Mkhitaryan’s numbers for Dortmund in his last season there piss all over Sancho’s so I hope we are truly convinced of his work rate and quality before we commit to a silly fee again.

Kagawa didn't work out too well either. Have to say the little I've seen of Sancho he looks technically gifted.

The thing that now puts me off Sancho slightly is that us not qualify for the CL might have allegedly put him off.

He's 19 ffs, is a season out side of the champions league that big a deal career (cash) wise? Really?

Looking positively, he could just think he's as well at Dortmund progressing for another season, which would make sense.

Alternatively, he could have had his head turned by agent bollocks telling him he is too good for a season outside of the CL.

    If so, steer clear.

We are now in a position where we need ambitious fighters who want to show they are the best, not players who want to walk into a squad that will carry them to their personal glory.
