These comparisons are way off the mark though. Ferrari v Seat. Olympics v School Sports day etc. As I mentioned, the difference between qualifying this season was 1 point, so the gulf isn't as it's being made out to be. Yes, the CL is the premier European comp, and everybody wants to be in it. But like Simeone, I'd rather win the EL than lose the final of the CL
That’s fine mate, but I think the EL is a pathetic joke of a competition. You obviously think better of it.
All depends if we win it There's enough people on here who've written it off for it not to be a big concern for anybody if we don't though
Winning the EL for us at the moment would help our players develop a winning mentality, would also bring us CL football and the money that goes with it, and would help us attract better players in the summer window. So it would definitely help us to push on.
They'd have qualified for the actual CL, so maybe. If we're in it, I'd usually like us to win it but next year I think we should sack the EL off and try to get us back to being some semblance of a team again. Ordinarily though, I'd rather we tried to compete for it.
With CL football yes, in theory. But we've got an owner who's more interested in sinking his cash into yankee oval ball, so possibly not.
Same way we should always compete for the league cup, I don't get the general dismissiveness of that either. End of the day, the OP had Spurs in it and they should definitely be happier wining an actual trophy than losing a final. They've won **** all for too long. Serial winners such as ourselves though, we should aim higher, obvs.
What i find funny about all this is, there are 4 English teams across the 2 finals. 2 have already won the CL. 1 has already been a runner up. Now the new kids on the block, that have won **** all for ages, are the most vocal
Can’t blame them for being excited mate, can you imagine what your lot would be like if you got to a CL Final?
