If we are going down to individual teams, we've knocked out PSV, Inter, Dortmund, Man City and Ajax so far. You've disposed of Vorskla, Qarabag, BATE and Rennes before the two you mentioned. All the clubs we have played are previous European champions except City, while the ones you have played so far have not won it between them. Crvena Zvezda are previous European Champions too by the way.
There are probably better teams in the Championship than some in the bottom half of the PL but that doesn't make winning the Championship a higher achievement than coming second (or even 5th) in the PL

 

This is all very well, but it still doesn't change the fact that winning the Europa League is better than losing the CL final. As was mentioned elsewhere, ask any professional player or manager what they'd prefer in this exact scenario (not would you prefer 10 years in the CL or one EL final etc etc) and they'd tell you that they would rather win a slightly less prestigious trophy than not win one at all.

 

But no one ever gets the choice of this exact scenario. I suppose the odd player looking for an easy medal might have joined Arsenal in January thinking the EL would be an easier win. But any ambitious player would choose a club still in the CL.

I mentioned those teams because power spurs was saying that all the CL teams are better than the EL teams. When clearly that isn’t the case.

The Champions League teams are better than the Europa League teams.
You're picking out the absolute worst of the Champions League and saying that a couple of those that were also in the Champions League are better.
The third place group stage teams are better than the fourth place group stage teams, for the most part.
So what? They're still failed Champions League teams that you're trying to claim as your toughest opponents.

The Europa League is significantly less prestigious than the Champions League. I don't know why you're trying to argue otherwise.
The dropdown and the way it's not taken seriously enough by most of those in it have devalued it.
I'd still prefer to win it than not win other things, of course, but you laughed at the tournament until you ended up in it.

So some of the CL teams aren’t as good as the EL teams then.

And I’m not trying to argue that the EL isn’t less prestigious than the CL. I’m saying that winning it is better than losing the CL ,which you’ve agreed is the case too.

 

What you initially have to discount is the outpouring of lost souls and there’s no better an option than the two knuckle dragging idiots that have lightened our day.

 

Some of the EL teams are in the CL, too. They're the **** ones.

Significantly less prestigious:

I'd rather win the League Cup than not win the Premier League. That doesn't mean that there's not a significant gulf between winning them.
