Brexit is wreaking havoc on the political landscape. How will the land lie when or if it ever gets sorted, whenever that is?
Sunday 19th May is 'World Bee Day' everybody should get involved... bees are important, and not just to us gardeners …. we would lose a lot of our foodstuffs without bees!
Top post. I planted two lavender bushes in my allotment for the bees which have a hive thirty metres away, although honey bees seem to prefer oregano. Was it Einstein who said that if the bees died out so would we. As Ian Dury said, There ain't half been some clever bastards.
The talks between the government and opposition are going nowhere, the Palace of Varieties is due to rise for 11 days for Whitsun, how far down the road can the can be kicked?
Just 9 days to the People's (Euro) Vote A chance to elect some MEP's who will make the EU regret the day it decided to make an example of Britain and punish it so that no other member would ever want to leave. Don't you just love democracy?
Judging by the turnout at council elections and previous European elections, a majority of the electorate don't care much for democracy.
That’s because the people are not stupid, and know that the corrupt, vile EU is undemocratic. The decisions are taken by the unelected Commission and the p1ss head Juncker. Donald Tusk was handpicked by Merkel and Hollande because he is so thick. And Martin Selmayr (his family were Nazis) waits in the wings, ready to accede to the throne.
Disillusionment with politics and the two main Parties is off the radar at the moment, for an obvious reason. They spent 3 years promising that something would happen on a particular date, and it didn’t. That silly, silly little woman Yvette Cooper was rattled yesterday when Nigel & Ann Widdecombe turned up for a Brexit rally in her constituency - and it was packed out. What did little Remoaner Yvette expect ? Her constituents voted overwhelmingly to Leave.
Ann Widdicombe getting cheered to the rafters at an audience largely of ex-miners is something you couldn't have imagined a few years ago. But my point about council elections has applied long before Brexit.
Working class people in places like Castleford & Bolsover have borne the brunt of the EU in action. They have seen their communities changed dramatically for the worse by mass EU immigration. The likes of Southern based Yvette Cooper (she’s from Hampshire) and Uber Metropolitan geek Ed Miliband make occasional visits to the Northern constituencies...and tell their voters that they know better.
People are willing to vote Lib Dems or Greens at local elections but would not vote for these Parties at a General Election
There is definitely not a Lib Dem revival- there is more chance of Vince Cable’s hair growing back. That preening non entity Chuka has totally bombed - only 2% in the polls today.
Sourpuss is the poison pill in the Change.org Party …. revolting woman … Criminal Lawyer ? then lock her up!!
Even at general elections the turnout is usually about two thirds, at council elections one third. People get the politicians they deserve.
