You know what the frightening thought is? But for a few cms detected by VAR, City would have had a very realistic shot at an impossible and unrepeatable quadruple. A feat which would have been a symbol of their superiority over the rest.
Think we have discussed this before in this board I think you should be wanting to win any comp you are in. However I do understand that generally most teams cannot compete on 4 levels. I genuinely can’t believe no one has put in the world club in The usual argument for - to win the league is bread and butter and you have to be consistent over 38 games - where as the cups you can be lucky I think is incorrect because people forget about the pre requisites to qualify. I would love to win the World Club - it means we had to perform well in the league initially- then we had to perform well in the CL. Then finally we had to play well in World Club. This spans over three seasons so shows your club is performing consistently. I also think the targets can move (particularly if you get eliminated lmao) But for example for us the PL is the holy grail and it is the trophy we are desperate to win But for me the CL is the best comp to win - for a really crap reason I love being involved in the Last game of the season just to extend it so - personally it is CL top of list - even if we had won it last season City can claim they were only bothered about being first team to retain but the CL is what their hierarchy crave as they want to be the best in Europe not just England. That is just my opinion PL/CL WORLD CLUB SUPER CUP FA CUP EUROPA COMMUNITY SHIELD/LEAGUE CUP But I would want to win them all
World club is completely pointless. Champions league winners rock up in the semi finals and play a team from south Africa in Japan or somewhere, trying to wedge the fixtures into an already busy December schedule. It's basically a slightly more glamorous charity shield
I agree with your ranking except for 2 : 1. A CL becomes more important once one wins the PL. It's like the next step you are the best team in your league then the best in the region (although the CL is still a KO comp not a true league). To me winning the CL before the PL is a bit back to front. 2. Europa is higher in status than the FA cup these days.
I don't even consider tbe Super Cup or Community Shield a trophy! Not too fussed about World Club Cup either... PL CL EL FA LC WCC
I was going to say that about winning the league before winning the CL for me that is the ‘right’ way to do it This is gonna hurt - Utd did it the way it should be done But as I say I love being in last game of season - and if we win it I won’t be gutted cause we didn’t win league last year (That’s why imho it was harder to win the old format than the newer but you could argue that better level of clubs involved in CL so not idea lmao) Can see point on Europa - especially now their is a CL place and because it is the penultimate game of season lol
technically no, they didn't qualify for it from previous season as league winners, only by the how easy it is now to qualify for tournament compared to having to be title winners.
I know Either I am having weirdest dejavu ever or we have been here before lol It all personal this one I think Tell you what though I hope we bring a pot back this year My head says yes My heart says hell yes My nature says no way lmao
Thought the were champs previous season to winning it ? Cant remember which one but thought they had on one of them Phew in that case
I respectfully disagree Would love to win it Would love to win charity shield too ftr I forgot the Intercontinental Club Championship too Don’t tell me you don’t want to win that one too lmao I do but bottom of list
interesting opinion. im shocked you actually care at all about a trumped up nothing of a comp in asia called the world club. It is the most pointless thing on the planet. (IMO) Do you only care about it cos we've not won it? Mine is very different and here is why: Premier league - first and always cos its the bread and butter Champions league - unlike other countries where they auto win league and put this cup higher than league i just can't. Its the glory on top for me. Europa League - as it gains entry to CL now its much more important. Still **** but important. FA cup (barely) - at this point its virtually ruined. But its still fa cup. The time of game. ruined. its broadcast. ruined. its timing in general clashes with europe etc etc. League cup. championship League 1 League 2 FA trophy Utterly irrelevant; super cup, charity shield and world club. These are nothing more than friendles imo. but thats just my opinion as you've said.
but would it still be same quality as you can get here me and my mate before we went had better here and we tried every one we could find on menu.
Haha. If you like that kind of scoring. But at a football level I think Ajax would have been a more dangerous opponent. The way they disposed of Madrid and other top teams indicates we would have had it really tough. But impossible to know now
I felt in both spurs games ajax started brilliantly and faded. I felt they should have killed the tie off in the first leg but they faded off and just took the one goal. They faded last 30 again v spurs. For me.... really it'd depend on who's got the elgs but i would have fancied us to run them off park. I think spurs will recover for final quite a bit so for me the winner in the final will be the side who's got the most running in them vertonghen is playing the i'm injured card so far. I'd love salah to be up against him. alli is supposedly injured but will plpay wanyama got a knock v everton aureir is just back rose had a injury sanchez had an injury kane is desperate to be back winks shouldn't be after surgery but who knows. lamela is just back sissoko is just back dier is just back) thats a LOT of players to be just returing and will they have match sharpness for us its all bobby firmino. Keita will be out. I think our team will be fairly predictable on the day. spurs? it could all unravel with half fit players for all we know... Look at utd agains tus. 3 men down and playing a crock up front as well. IF I had kane, alli, vertonghen, rose, sissoko all on pitch at astart (and spurs must) I'd be a bit worried one or more wont last the 90.
They are like us from a couple of years ago; fast out the gate but ****ed later in the game. Our fitness levels would have beaten them. That's why Spurs managed to win
Fyi i hold CL above PL. Even though its a knockout competition its the comp that hold effectively the best teams in the world and the fact its "harder" to win. By that i mean most if not all clubs will have more league titles than cl titles. By virtue of it being rarer it makes it even more presitigous imo. As for super cup, community shield, world club cup these are just friendlies and i don't even bother following. I wasnt even bothered when rafa lost in thr world club cup
Us not having won the league for so long probably makes the PL more important for us. We own a CL trophy
Harder to win because it involves the very best teams in Europe. But on an individual club level, it becomes a priority once you are or have been champions in your own league. I can understand Roman's obsession or abu Dhabi 's as soon as they had won the league. I must say that in terms of happiness the PL >>>CL because weve been involved in the Pl challenge for months whereas the CL only became a realistic possibility a week ago. It would be a great trophy to have in the cabinet (trophy enviously coveted by City) but for me the PL is the holy grail just because weve not won it.
which is fair. my opinion stems from philosophy built on actually needing to win league to make money and be in champions league. league = bread and butter is based on gate and prize being everything really. maybe Chelsea just have won league recently and only 1 jug ears ever...
