Ok ! Not sure why this devaluing of tournaments has crept into the English mind ! Back in the 70s early 80s there wasn't this attitude and any euro win was greeted with the same level of appreciation !

i wanted us to win the Europa when we were in it...the UEFA cup was magnificent and carried alot of prestige...we won it in 84.....i dont mind it...however... Chavs looked down on it when they thought they are too good for it and now they are trying to give it some credibility The world doesnt work like that does it J
To be fair they both may as well be the final of University Challenge, the last cup I remember QPR winning was the Ibiza Cup in 05.
Because football teams change in quality from year to year, back then the best team in Europe could easily have been in the Cup Winners Cup or UEFA cup. Now the top 32 sides from the previous season are in the CL and the Europa is clearly the second division championship. If the poll had siad would you rather win the Championship or be second in the Premier league, would you have voted differently? I'd be very happy if Spurs never won the Championship or the Europa League as being in them is a sign of failure.
I used to enjoy all of the finals back in the day . It was strange how the Cup winners Cup final and European finals where live on telly but UEFA cup finals where highlights ! The Cup winners Cup final didn't seem that much smaller that the European cup then !
They were all important back then i remember watching some great teams win it...early 90's Klinsmann, Mattheus and their Inter team...classic outfit They important now if youre not the arrogant hypocritical type i.e Chavs and Goonz

The only thing I would say about losing in a CL final or even getting to the SF is that usually sets a trend for eventual winners in a subsequent season. That's a big positive for any club in the medium term. Other than that, I'd rather win the Europy. I'd probably include the FA Cup in that as well.
I planned to be humble if we won it however waking up to Chav/Goon butthurt this morning has convinced me that making life utter hell for them if we do pull it off is the best course of action

Butthurt You’ve rightly had the piss taken for claiming that losing the CL final is better than winning the Europa League. You thought folks were gonna let that just slide ?
