well if the ffp rules can be fudged and don't have any consequences, wont be long before an even richer person buys a prem club and start all over again. city time at the moment, but wont be long before another takes over. there is a few clubs where it only takes someone with silly money, and the will be excelled, as the structure is there just need the players on the pitch.
Is there currently a rumour that Chelsea might be bought by an even richer billionaire? Having said that their current owners weren't exactly mean in terms of giving money to their club. What the premiership has shown over decades tbf is that the key person to the club in terms of on field performances is the manager. You might bring a Messi or Ronaldo but they are not used well in the context of a team you might as well forget it and its money down the drain. What would frighten me too is Pochetino with millions to spend at whatever club.
that's why he keeps being linked with utd. IF they lose cl final he might seriously consider it. there is a few clubs with structure in place that owner with silly money can excel them, no idea of rumour for chelsea. but spurs, chelsea, arsenal, newcastle, leeds, are probably a few who would be with silly money at their disposal.
possibly, i would have thought it would be other way round personally, if he wins it stay and try and get that team to even greater greatness, as he would be excelled to hero level like we have with sir kenny and rafa etc.
You never Poch with money might not work I think he would but no guarantees Sometimes money doesn’t help some managers and some are very good with it
I'd like to thank you for your fair and honest views, Trebs I'll provide my personal synopsis when I've read through to the end of this thread.
I have to agree. he's had loads of time at spurs and frankly his teams do 3 things. defend well, lose their nuts at times and play a hard working hard running game. I have to wonder if he can install the discipline at the big ego club.. or if his sometimes rwging temper would work. I fancy we will find out though and soon.
Like klopp said you could look back at every single game and say if this happened we’d have won etc etc. If we’d had scored that goal v city they may not have won 2-1. If Kompany didn’t score that worldie they may have drawn 0-0. But if origi didnt wcore v Everton or Newcastle. Is lloris didn’t throw one in for us in last minute etc. I’ll bite your hand off for 97 points for the next 5 seasons. If that doesn’t win us a title then fair play. Who ever beats it deserves it. Team have been incredible and shouldn’t look back at any game with regrets. It’s our best ever performance over a season. Just unfortunate come up against a team just as good and prob best team prem has seen given they’ve got 198 points over 2 seasons!
Before a ball was kicked this season, I thought City would win it as they have an outstanding manager and unbelievable strength in depth. I never thought we were capable of pushing them every step of the way, and boy, did we! In the process, we have two of the three Golden Boot winners and the Golden Gloves winner. Oh, and the best defence in the League. We're in the Champion's League final for the second successive season, and we'll ensure we're even stronger for the coming campaign. We have a dedicated and talented group of players, and In Jurgen Klopp, I truly believe we have the best manager in the World. I'd like to thank all of them for giving us the ride we're on, and if there's any justice, we'll win the final in Madrid. Just imagine if we'd had Robben........................................... YNWA
I totally understand the frustration of yesterday after the season you've had, and i would be as sick as a parrot if it was my team, but i think you're being a little hypocritical about ffp and cash cow clubs. Liverpool paid the highest price ever for a defender and the highest price ever (until we bought Kepa) for a keeper. Having said that i hope you win the C.L. Your performances this year deserve some reward.
we sold coutinho for silly money, so we did sell to buy so to speak, city have never had to weaken have they, great team though. but has it been done fairly? i guess no one cares sadly as its us who lost out, birmingham got punished with points quick enough, yet why have we not heard about city yet. cheers, hope so to, but same could be said for spurs, great achievement for them, just hope kane is playing as its a 1 man team then
And who s money did we spend??? Barcelonas. We targeted players we really wanted but until coutinho deal was done neither player was bought. We got a loan we repay to build a main stand. We have had to pay our own way thanks. We've not broken ffp and we've fought for years to survive and come back after 2008 to 2010. So no.. it's not hypocritical at all.
Jenners you ask "has it been done fairly". In a nostalgic and old fashioned view of football, probably not. Unfortunately, as we all know, football is now big business and money is king. I wish it was otherwise but i have to admit that after supporting my team since the 70's and they being fairly ****e for the first 30 or so years of that, i have enjoyed the last 25 years or so. Football has moved on so i'm just enjoying the ride !!! Hoping to give your lot a better challenge next year ! Cheers Buddy.
Mito, i didn't say you had broken ffp, i just think it's a futile argument talking about it, especially when the "heads" in Eufa and Fifa haven't the balls to deal with the problem properly. Money doesn't have to be the "be all and end all" of everything in any case. Spurs didn't buy in last 2 windows and they are doing o.k. !
