According to a poster on ITTV, Vetokele told him at The Player of The Season dinner that he will be out for 10 to 11 weeks.
We won’t see Igor in a Charlton shirt again then. He was looking a bit more like his old self in recent weeks, but he will never be fit enough for long enough.
Parker has been Bowyered … he came to us as a lazy useless git and now look at him.... winning headers, chasing every ball and creating havoc with defenders … Bowyer (or Jacko?) has sorted him and got him playing the Bowyer way …. not worried about Parker starting anymore
He’s still a poor striker, missed a good chance today with a header. But you can’t fault his work rate.
A glance at Wikipedia shows that Parker has had a varied career, with spells at a variety of lower league clubs, Red Star Belgrade, a Slovenian club and Aberdeen in the last nine years, during which time he has scored 27 goals.
Parker will never score many goals, and you wouldn’t want him anywhere near the Championship. But his work rate was very good yesterday and that was his best performance so far in our shirt.
Being charitable, Parker’s workrate creates space for the more talented Aribo & Taylor. I would still start with Jonny Williams on Friday.
Doncaster social media was effusive about Lyle Taylor after yesterday’s game. I would say there is a 1% chance of him staying this summer if we don’t go up. Then Parker will he offered a 12 month contract. The stakes are very high now ...not just getting promoted, but the complete break up of this team over the summer.
The momentum we've built up has enabled us to try and forget that we really are at the cliff-edge this summer. The sound of chickens coming home to roost could be deafening. The owner has no idea the debt he owes to Bowyer, Jacko and Gallen.
pretty much sums up what I saw of Parker against Rochdale. A goal would do his confidence some serious good, and I'll always try to back players who play their heart out and don't hide, even if they may not be the most talented on show. I'm trying not to think about next season, we still have to overcome Doncaster, who will logically try to nick a goal and maybe two. But all the time Parker is making it hard for the opposition defence to mark him, the more space Taylor, Arribo et al will have. No one makes an entire team out of Messi's! And as it stands, I wouldn't drop Parker.
