    Liverpool & Wolves have without question reached or even exceeded their respective targets well ahead of us. So have Newcastle, when you consider Benitez has £0 to spend every year.

    By 'doing more of what we have been doing' you suggest that we should continue retaining deadwood and not signing anyone?

    This season has most certainly not been better than last. We have finished with fewer point and in a lower position and have by and large played crap football. In what way is that 'better'?

    I agree 100% with your points about Wembley and the WC though.

    I think Aurier will give their FB alot more to think about than Trippier

    It's not as though Trippier is better defensively

    It has honestly got to the point where I couldn't give a **** who starts at RB. As long as they have a pulse, it's much of a muchness.

    Enjoyed being at the game.
    Can't blame the players for easing off personally...once 4th was not ever in danger the players seemed to not want to risk injury...and I ain't criticising that.

    4th and CL final is a great season.

    Yeah...we tailed off badly, but injuries have destroyed our season.
    1) Kane (kicked and trod on)
    2) Dier (Tonsillitis, appendix and an infection)
    3) winks groin and ankle
    4) Dembele...broken
    5) Wanyama...broken
    6) Vertonghen...ankle (i think)

    Then we had Dele out twice, once with a broken arm, Hugo has been out twice, Son missed 2 months with international duty.

    By any standard that is **** luck.

    Wembley was a huge issue...we lost to liverpool, city, united, wolves and failed to beat Arsenal there.

    I aint re hashing the signings debate...we have got the minimum league position required and a CL finsl is beyond my wildest dreams and who knows whst may have happened if we had sold players like Rose, Winks, Sissoko etc and brought others in.

    There have been low points...I thought the Bournemouth game was an undisciplined and therefore unprofessional performance but we were very unlucky losing United, City (away), Liverpool (away), West Ham.
    Although Liverpool battered us at Wembley we should have had a penalty and so could have got a draw.
    With better finishing we could have been out of site v Bournemouth and Southampton.

    These are small margins that could easily go our way next season.

    However the thing every one forgets is that we won 23 matches (11 away games...)...the same as last year but we only won 8 away games last season...and only 3 less than in our final season at the old WHL...where we won 17 league games at home and 9 away!

    There is a lot to build upon imo and a lot of reasons to look back at the season with some good memories.

    1) Son and Sissoko playing so well.
    2) beating arsenal at their place.
    3) beating Chelsea twice
    4) beating united at OT
    5) beating city at home and then the match in Manchester
    6) coming Home
    7) Moura particularly in Manchester and Ajax
    8) Away to Barca
    9)Dortmund home and away
    10) Ajax away
    11) scoring 7 away from home at Tranmere.
    12) CL finalists

    Errr......yes.....sort of. I'm not sure about the nappy but if it's Trippier or soilage.....be prepared to soil. His head is on backwards right now.

    Personally, I think the order of preference to start at right back for the final is...

    (1) Foyth;
    (2) Aurier;
    (3) KWP;
    (4) Anyone but Kieran Trippier
    (5) The man himself.

    We won't get away with Trippier giving the Mousers a 2-0 lead in the final. His performances in the QF and SF were dreadful in the first half...absolutely dreadful. We can't start the bloke, we just can't.

    With regards to the pessimism and optimism debate, I often feel like I find myself in between the two.

    Pessimistic because I felt this was a season to really push on, and whilst we’ve done the unthinkable and reached the CL final, a part of me feels that with just 2, maybe 3 clever signings, we could’ve been well in the mix with City and Pool for the Prem title. Another reason I have pessimism is the fact we’re likely to lose two absolute key players, so while we talk of building the squad there’s also a sense of re-building it too which is never easy and *could* set us back, though that’s 50-50.

    Then on the other hand, I’m optimistic because Levy has put in place for this club to become one of the elite - though we must start acting like it. We have the best stadium in Europe, the best training facilities in Europe and one of the best young managers in Europe, not forgetting a number of stars that can walk into just about any XI in European football. But we need to start acting bigger, we can’t keep looking at ourselves as the smallest of the big six, we have to start mentally believing we belong here and are not just punching above our weight. What Levy has done for this club is incredible, he himself also needs to step up a level too in terms of really backing the manager with “big club finances” but the fabrics are there now for Spurs to be one of the best around.
