Ive just watched the highlights of the west ham game. How can SC come out and say that the first challenge wasn't a booking? It was over the ball and his studs were showing, was a definite booking. The second challenge also deserved a booking and was stupid. If Lawrence hadn't of got sent off we more than likely would have picked up a point. I haven't been impressed with Lawrence so far this season, and definitely don't see him as a right winger, he should be playing behind the striker/s. I wasn't sure if he played there yesterday?

Also we need to stop picking up so many bookings, our disciplinary record is appalling, and with such a small squad this could cause problems, especially if SC is unwilling to use our youngsters.

Cotts was guilty of this last season, although the remark was probably made in the heat of the moment. If he doesn't get a little tough, now and again and stop trying to be one of the lads, the discipline could spiral out of control.

Agree, crazy bookings may cost us dearly later in the season, the way they are mounting up.

It does not matter whether the first booking was correct or not (although I think it was), the second should have been a straight red. When he plays well he is an inspiration, but all too often the guy is a liability and should not be captain.

Who do you think should replace him as skipper (if he was to be replaced) LFIH ?

From what I have seen Pearce or maybe even Mullins.

I agree he isn't captain material. He gets too frustrated and makes stupid challenges, he also argues with the referee a lot during games. I think Norris, Pearce or Mullins would be better choices for captain, although I don't think SC has a clue when it comes to choosing a captain as I remember last season kitson was captain for a few games.

I reckon Jason Pearce would be a good choice - reads the game well, and is level headed.

Your disciplinary record is bad so far this season, though not the worst, that title is reserved for dirty Leeds.

Lawrence has a habit of scoring against us, so we're rather pleased he's going to missing on Saturday, though Halford's put a couple past us too, so if he could get injured in training this week, we'd be most appreciative, thanks. <ok>

Any idea how many are likely to travel on Saturday?

The final sentence of the original thread is very worryingly true. While we have [IMO] a very decent first XI at this level, we don't have a great deal in the tank where replacements are concerned. We need to get points on the board before injuries and suspensions start to erode the quality that SC is able to send out on to the pitch.

I had Solent on during the journey home Sat, and heard Clotterills comments. When I watched the FL show later, I couldn't see what he was on about, as Claridge said the first could have been a red.

What made me laught about Clott's was when the interviwer said "are you worried about the number of yellows this season" and Clotts got all defensive and said "why, have we more than anyone else?" and the interviwer just said "yes".

Get rid of Lawrence as captain, and instate Mullins- he deserves it the most. Pearce is new and inexperienced at this level- he is also a bit young to be skipper IMO <ok>

i like that we have a bit of fight about us and all the players (Apart from Kitson) are always 100% committed to challenges. I think referees are sometimes a bit quick to get their cards out. What we need to cut out is the arguing with the referee and the rash challenges made because players are frustrated, Lawrence 2nd booking is an obvious example of this, he loses the ball, thinks he is fouled and the referee dosnt give it, he gets up obviously annoyed and makes a stupid challenge. I have seen this quite a lot in recent games, particularly from Lawrence.

Anyway what a cross from Huseklepp for Norris goal, he looks promising when played on the wing.

Huseklepp is most effective when played behind the striker .. If Cotts played him there, and put Williams in midfieild, we stand a chance against Hull on Saturday. Give Benji a start as well- he is showing class that other players cannot offer <ok>

Haven't seen Huseklepp yet myself, so can't really judge him. I was on holiday for the Cardiff game, but apparently he was poor, what position did he play that game?

SC definitely wont be starting Williams on saturday, its obvious he doesn't like to rush young players into the first 11. Williams has looked good when he has come on though. Think Ward will come in for Lawrence on Saturday, other than that same team.

I didn't really spend a lot of time watching Huseklepp but each time I looked he had 2 Cardiff players breathing down his neck - and seemed to be very isolated. To be fair wasn't it his first start?

yeah it was his first start. Its going to take time for him to adapt to english football, especially the championship which is much more physical and fast paced than serie A and probably the Norwegian leagues. I'm not expecting wonders from him this season, but like i said the little bits of him i have seen he does look promising.

Have to agree with the bulk of comments on here. We played well enough to have got a point but Lawrence's rash tackle cost us dearly. I would go for Mullins - he has become a lynch pin in the team and always puts in a shift. We have never had a reputation as a dirty physical team and I don't want one. The other one I'd consider is Halford. Pearce is definitely future material. Overall still think we are doing ok all things considered....we went to the team that is hot favourite to win the league and gave them a very tough game. We still need at least 2 loans in to enable us to have a limited bit of fat on the squad.
