going through a LEAGUE season unbeaten, and only having the league trophy to show for it

    or

winning the treble. the 3 most prestigious trophys a club can win. in one season! being the kings of england AND europe.

winning the quadruple would surely be the greatest achievement and there is only one team in the country that can still do that <ok>

And Islington will never win the treble.

Remind me again, how far is Ashburton Grove from Woolwich Arsenal?

That's it, bite the hook. Good fish.

Seriously, I'm impressed you managed to make a post this evening without screaming something about Invincibles. Have you finally realised that no one cares any more?

You make a post complaining about arsenal, then say 'bite the hook'.

Hate to burst your bubble, but that's way down my list of things to brick it about. It comes in between the Earth being destroyed by a giant marshmallow, and Kerry Katona being elected as Ayatollah of Iran.

Actually that post was purely directed at Vela, after his similar post here:

    http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/30578-The-New-Invincibles?p=128119&viewfull=1#post128119

I was going for irony, obviously far too subtle. Besides which, if you read my post you can see it's not a wind up at all, but actually a damning indictment of a follower of a team that has completely left its original location and moved the best part of ten miles to the north west trying to make a comment on how well another team deserves its name. But never mind, I'm sure threatening people with a ban makes you feel very big and clever.

Back on the point of the post, it's interesting to note that both teams actually lost four games each in their respective seasons. We lost three times in the league and once in the Carling Cup, and Arsenal lost twice in the Carling Cup, once in the FA Cup, and once in the Champions League. Also, in 1999 Arsenal beat us in the league and in 2004 we beat Arsenal in the FA Cup. We also both lost to Middleborough, bizzarely enough. Eerie parallels between the performance of the two clubs in their respective seasons, which definitely implies to my mind that their accomplishments are roughly equal.

sorry, i'm slightly confused by this article.

how many european cups have arsenal won again?

surely they need to win the top trophies before any valid comparision can be made.

so could somebody let me know?

PS - numbers of euro super cups, world club cups and the like would also help comparision with the so called 'invincibles'
