Gazza Aurier Toby Dier Davies Goat Skipp Lamela Alli Son Llorente Subs: Hugo, KWP, Eyoma, Wanyama, Eriksen, Lucas, Janssen EDIT: Just realised i am typing from a parallel universe where we won Son's appeal . Lucas it is then as he has played far fewer games than Eriksen.
I'd go with Wanyama for the GOAT (he needs as much game time as possible) , and start with Janssen for Llorente.
I hate to say it but the games against City and Ajax confirmed that Wanyama is sadly a spent force at the highest level. Probably more important now to focus on getting Winks or Dier fully fit for the final.
It takes a number of starts to come back from being out for so long, so I will reserve judgement on that (CL opposition at that stage is hardly being eased back in) . If his physio status is Ledley-esque, he will be gone in the summer. Otherwise, he has an entire summer to get sharp for the next season. All the physios can do now is get as many of the squad match-fit as possible for Jun 1st, in order to give Pochettino the strongest possible available squad from which to select the final team sheet.
One of the elements in our favour is the 3 week gap between now and the final. Taking apart the second half on Wednesday, we're in no sort of form at them moment. If the game was next weekend, Liverpool's current form would be a significant advantage. However, 3 weeks without a competitive match is a bit of a leveller, like the first match after international duty. Teams have to try and pick up again and results tend to be a bit more of a lottery. If Winksy is fit, I'd be tempted to pick him ahead of Big Vic for the first hour. I'm slightly less inclined to pick Harry Kane for that first hour. If he's got a contribution to make, I think that it might be better made off the bench, when tiredness starts to become a factor. The other main concern is Kieran Trippier. I can see Liverpool and Robertson tearing him to bits. I'd be tempted to start Foyth or even Aurier and think about bringing Trippier on if we're chasing the game and want what he offered in the second half in Amsterdam.
