Whitbread and Watneys had a monopoly of the beer in the pubs around the local pubs where I started drinking, The Sun, The Seaweed, Gardeners Arms in Weston and the Woolston and Sholing pubs. Had to wait until the weekend and the trip into City Centre and the free house pubs to sample exotic delights like Tuborg Gold and Oranjeboom, The Southerners in the High Street had a good selection IIRC....
I can remember a Fosters lager promotion night in Vospers Social Club and it was 25p a pint all night. Borrowed my old man's card and blagged me and a couple of mates in...we were buying four pints at a time that night and I got wrecked by 10pm..... My nickname was "Harry" for a while after that because my Dad's name is Harold....bastards!
This would make a good OT thread. Guess the year. Skip class in the afternoon, go down town and get ten L&B for .99p & a 85p pasty for lunch, and hung out in the arcade. Next.
The Bellemoor was my local. Must have benn in there most nights from 1978 onwards! Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk
Typically all the final fixtures are shown here on one of 10 channels NBC owns. This year they are showing 9 of the 10. The one they chose not to show is ours. I was planning to record it as I won’t be home. Can’t stream it either so I guess I’ll have to wait until August. If we were part of a relegation battle maybe they would have shown it but I’ve had enough of that.
I remember they used to put an alarm clock in a bag, with no one knowing when it was timed to go off, then when it did, all drinks were half price for an hour. Where they still doing that when you were a regular?
Anybody remember this stuff?... please log in to view this image NINE % proof alcohol.....****ing lethal, you would drink a few then go outside in the fresh air and then pow!
This had the consistancy of thick gravy (very strong too) and I was challenged to down a pint in one...I managed to do it in about 7 seconds...and then threw it all up again in .7 of a second!..... please log in to view this image
I've just checked my NBCSports app on my Apple TV and it is showing on that - says it is on NBCSports.com & the streaming apps (Roku, FireTV, Apple TV etc). Spurs v Everton is on SYFY & Fulham v Newcastle on the Olympic Channel and Watford v West Ham on the Golf Channel - seems ours is the only one not on a 'proper' channel in the US.
