That was still playing once ours against Barca had finished and were waiting to find out the Inter result to see if we'd done enough. Nick Viergever, Tottenham hero and he doesn't even know it.
Spurlock the bambino basher. What you call "cocky" I call youthful exuberance. However, their manager must have known what was coming in the 2nd half, and neither he or his players seemed to have prepared for it (even though they were forewarned at WHL) .
Yeah ok...'Youthful exuberence' however we are not old...we are closer to our peak than them. Plus Youth comes with a lack of life experience and this lesson in tough love will do them good...not that I care. I'm just glad we recognised what we are capable of.
You let the hack Narrative (TM) that they are the reincarnation of the Busby babes fused with the Ajax 70s "total football" teams, get to you. This occurred due to a "lack of life experience" on your part, my young padewan ...
Loved Dele's nutmeg on Frenkie for Lucas' first. I hope he said afterwards "That's for choosing to join Barcelona, prick!". I'm not bitter though or anything.
I didn't buy it...you won't find a single post from me waxing lyrical about them....I said after the first leg that we can do them due to their inexperience. However i don't like little ****s coming off the pitch sniggering and winking and the thought of them beating us and showing arrogance was grating me. Beat me with humility and it's fine...beat me with arrogance and I'll probably run my studs down your calf somewhere along the next 45. Let's do ourselves justice again
The whole club reeked of arrogance at half-time. "Every little thing's gonna be alright"? It is, you arseholes, but not for you!
They’re an excellent side. But like all sides of their ilk they like having the ball and being in control. They’re not as good without it, just as they’re not used to being harried and bullied. No doubt in my mind that Llorente made the difference in the 2nd half. They simply couldn’t handle him. And once the first goal went in they started to panic. They’d been knocked out of their set game plan and simply didn’t know what to do.
Rose also nutmegged de Ligt in the same move. We must do more of them than the rest of Europe combined. It's ridiculous.
Most of the neutral tickets get sold back to the fans of the teams in the final anyway, so why bother? Why should one of our season ticket holders miss out on what might be their only chance to attend a Spurs Champions League final? So that some random bloke with no attachment to either club can go? Not for me. Pass.
I'm still mightily impressed with the nifty footwork from our Samba star...them chances...my god..he was so quick to nick that ball and make it his own with all 3 goals
There should be a massive clamp down on selling tickets on. But why should fans of less successful clubs or smaller countries effectively be banned from ever seeing a Champions League final?
They’re excellent at pressing when they lose the ball straight away but if you can get past the first man and hold onto possession for a few minutes, they are vulnerable. Or you can just bypass the midfield completely like we did at times! And yes, they clearly didn’t like Llorente. Makes sense really - Blind doesn’t have the physical stature to deal with Nando, and while de Ligt is built like a tank and plays beyond his years, Llorente has been around the block more times than most and is canny enough to unsettle an inexperienced young man. We’ve really underused Llorente in his time with us, until recently. I’d definitely keep him for another year if we could. He offers us something different and unsettling, especially in Europe, and domestically when teams sit deep against us, and he’s clearly a popular character amongst the squad as well.
They're not banned. They should be well down the list, though. The Europa League final has 37,500 tickets for randoms, 14,500 for corporate and commercial partners and 12,000 split between the clubs. That's absolute ****ing nonsense.
I was excited when we signed him because I thought we'd generally found a top quality striker to challenge Harry. In the first season, he was both underused and then asked to play a style that wasn't to his strengths. This season, despite still being underused until Kane's injuries, it seems the staff and players have worked on actually utilising his strengths and they've paid off a number of times. If he wished to stay, I'd have no problem.
