You don’t have to hear that Pontus is dodgy... watching him recently should be enough to establish he’s dodgy.

Do you ever not have the Samaritans on speed dial

I do have to question, IF it was a lack of funds due to getting Casilla in (though it seemed the deal was done until the sacked Swansea chairman started playing silly bollocks), could we not have afforded easily the James fee if we hadn't wasted so much money Izzy here? What deal did we do when it became obvious he was never going to get fit enough to contribute? Why wasn't he sent back to his parent club for rehab?

I agree 100% that the deadline day fiasco was down to Swansea but we allowed it to run up until that day. Long before that Bielsa had identified him as a target, we should have done the business long before the final day and why were there not other targets?

We only knew James was a genuine target because Bielsa leaked the name on his presentation. I’m not trying to be doom and gloom mate and put all the blame on us but I don’t believe we handled the transfer window well.

We knew we were an attacking player short, Saiz left and that made us two short, we should have strengthened in January, The Blades signed 4 players in January and they pipped us

Not accusing you of being a wrist slasher bud, far from it<ok> but none of us on here know exactly why we, or Swansea waited til the last day, was there an agreement weeks before, who knows, only the hierarchy at ER know the full details
I agree we should have got a few more good, experienced players in to give us that final push, but it seems Bielsa doesn't go down that route, having said that, he got 32yo Casilla in and it all went down hill from there:oops:

Perhaps Swansea insisted on it being a deadline day deal?

.. it’s true that sometimes want an announcement of a deal to be delayed for a few different reasons BUT as the buying club you would insist the t’s were crossed and i’s dotted when the deal was agreed. Or you should.

It's all a big scam, he has never been on loan at the club.

Okay we can’t sign a player until the window is open but my gripe is if you know you’re an attacker down weeks before the window opens you surely start your search early.

Contact clubs and agents, ask about availability and get the initial talks done early, January arrives and you get it done and dusted as quickly as possible. It also gives you the advantage of having that player available for 4 games more compared to deadline day.

If Swansea insisted on last day we tell them to forget it and move on to plan B but like I said, you do all this early in November or December. The Blades had Norwood on loan with an option to buy, January 1st they activated it to ensure nobody stole him. January 6th they made a second signing you can’t tell me that between 1st and 5th January, made an offer, did a medical, agreed terms and conditions and signed him, the preliminaries would have been done long before that. I think their 3rd player In was the 15th January and then one more on deadline day.

Sadly, despite him doing nothing this season and with no logical explanation or reason, I’d be so excited to see Izzy starting for us tomorrow in the #10 position or in place of Forshaw. Bielsa has a problem with Izzy, something we’re not privileged to but if we don’t go up I’ll always wonder if it cost us promotion.

Wherever Izzy goes next season I bet he shines and he’ll be debated much more on here when we reflect “what if”.

I think you’re preaching to the converted on this one fella!! We clearly had limited funds, decided keeper was biggest priority, sourced one... it took a while because our first choices wanted cash... then what money we had left went on winger search. It’s the strategy of the skint.

Yes one of the biggest disappointments of the season for me, and I think he would have made the difference as well.
