Having been on the receiving end of "Where I was In 2005" for years, your lot add a whole new chapter to Great European Nights. I'm staying away from the pub for the next 20 years!

Seriously, that was the most incredible things I've seen in 50+ years of footballing watching. A great performance which had me dancing round the room. There are Reds who like to give it large when performances have been mediocre, but all you proper Reds who know a bit about football and are always a joy to meet at matches can walk as tall as you like today.

Good luck against Ajax (I hope). Oh and keep that Salah bloke on the bench!

The miracle of last night was not so much Liverpool winning 4-0, but how Barcelona managed to get to the semis, and lead 3-0 after the first leg. Liverpool are definitely much better than last season, while Barca need to rebuild completely.

The miracle was not Liverpool winning but Barca managing to get to the semi-finals with a team that is 4 years past its best.

Exactly. Really glad we've got a chance at the big trophy. PL would've been great but that's done. Both are about equal for me though. We haven't won a PL so there's that, but it's been a long time, 14 years !! since we won the CL, so I'll easily take it

If I'd been given a choice I'd rather we won the Prem, tbh - but the CL would be a reasonable consolation. :)
Still, it's not won yet, so I won't get too presumptuous.

I like Spurs. Far better than the garbage pretending to be a great club at OT. Even worse would be Chelsea. Thankfully they are in the EL, and lets hope Eintract put them in their place tomorrow evening.

It is interesting that we are talking about Barcelona, who have won La liga on a canter and who had hardly broken sweat to be champions. Not Madrid or Bayern Complete rebuild for the so called best team in the world. The world has gone mad....

The so-called best team in the world haven´t been that way since 2015. I suppose the love that some football fans have with FC Barcelona is that they are Catalan, a part of Spain where some perceive it is hard done by, by the Madrid Government. That was during the Franco era. Add to that cocktail, you have an enormous stadium, (also in need of renovation), and currently the best player in the world. So it is an enticing mix. If I was to find a parallel with a team in the past, it would be Manchester United in the late 60s, where again there were some great players but the collective was average. Like Barcelona now, that team grew old together, and we know the outcome of that. A superb relegation in 1974!!! I don´t think this will happen to Barca, but a period away from the top table in European football is likely to happen. QFs at best for the foreseeable future.

As for both the other two illustrious clubs you mentioned, both need a rebuild, and that won´t be easy. Add to that City and United wanting to upgrade in certain positions, the competition for the top players is going to be intense. Why haven´t I mentioned Liverpool? At the moment your team is yet to peak as a collective so as for signings one or two are required to maintain the quality of the squad. And as Klopp has proven, shrewd signings like Robertson are the key.

I don't think comparing Barcelona to the mancs is remotely valid with all due respect. Barcelona are at the top of the tree in Liga. Sure Madrid are down at the moment but they Barcelona are still top dog and winning competitions. Whereas the mancs in the 70s were really down in the dumps, sliding down to mid table and then relegated. They were nowhere being top dogs or winning anything. Barcelona will never be as bad simply because in the Liga however poor their form is they will be amongst top 3 or 4. The premiership is less forgiving as Chelsea's slide a few years ago under Mourinho and the mancs again under the same manager both proved.

Comparisons are relative. You are right to say that Barca will always be one of the top dogs in La Liga, but in CL terms they might not be contesting finals for a few years yet, as they gradually see their old guard moving on, and a new team emerging. It can take time as we have seen with your club. Until Jurgen Klopp arrived, Liverpool were usually on the fringes. God knows what would have happened if LFC had given Hodgson a full season? The thought is frightening. I think Rodgers was a postive appointment as it put LFC on a upward trajectory, although he was not capable of taking the side to the stratosphere. So we are talking about a period of a 10 years from 2007, to 2017 when LFC started dining at the top table again.

We just beat Barca with half a team having been 3-0 down from the first leg and you want to talk about Man Utd? <laugh>

Did the result really surprise you? Not me!!! Barca have been very ordinary this year, and even their own supporters considered they were fortunate to get a 3-0 lead in the first leg. And to consider your team, even without Salah and Firmino has considerably more pace and a considerable amount of skill, winning 4-0 was not the surprise that it is being made out to be. Just don't answer any incoming calls from the Barcelona President in the coming weeks. No doubt he will be usurped this summer if he doesn't step down.
