Spot on Col. For me it’s mainly about Klopp, but I I think it’s important for the game in this country that we don’t turn into another place where only one club wins the league year in year out, like Italy, Spain recently, Germany and France. City could do this, and I don’t want either them or Liverpool having a ‘dynasty’. I liked the early 2000s when Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal were all proper competition for each other.
To be honest Col, with me it’s the ‘scouse not English’ brigade that piss me off.....making out that they are always the victims but never the perpetrator, and that they are just a bunch of cheeky scallies who are loved by everyone.......they really ain’t. If the **** some their fans did in Barcelona with pushing that old fella in a fountain was done by Chelsea fans, quite rightly they would be labelled as scum (before anyone says, yes, it was only one individual but so many just stood about and laughed). Great come back by their team though and will give them something to talk about for many years to come.
Fair points mate. I think, generally, that I can separate the fans from a team's achievements (Chelsea aside, obviously!!). I think it's similar to loving a player for his ability, even though he's a complete twat (Gazza).
Did anyone see this story.... Dutch Player Sacked After Pulling A Sickie To Go And Watch Spurs Vs. Ajax please log in to view this image Nasir Jabbar in FOOTBALL Jordie van der Laan has been sacked by Telstar after being caught on TV watching Ajax's Champions League game against Tottenham, while pulling a sickie. The Dutch footballer told his club he was ill so he could visit London to watch Ajax's semi-final first leg clash with Spurs. But his plan horribly backfired when cameras panned to the 25-year-old in the away end. please log in to view this image Van der Laan has now paid the ultimate price with Telstar terminating his contract on the spot. He claimed that he was set to leave the club at the end of the season and insists there's no bad blood between him and the second-tier side. The striker is now on the hunt for a new team and he's admitted the situation has been "very awkward". On a good note, he's available on a freebie.....
Fantastic atmosphere in the Cruyff arena. I fear Spurs may get a hammering. I'm certainly not so bothered about who wins this one, although I always want the English side to win. Ajax are a joy to watch.
I was in the Ajax stadium a few months ago for a league game. It’s a great stadium, but the atmosphere was nothing compared to German clubs or Liverpool last night. I suspect that will be very different tonight. Against most other teams I would be neutral, despite my dislike of Spurs (or their fans). But Ajax represent everything I love about football, have to back them. I’ll be neutral if they get through to play Liverpool, I’d love either Ajax or Klopp to win this competition. Lot of expectation on Son, who is a lovely player, tonight. I have no idea how this will go.
1-0. Why was Trippier marking Dr Lit and why did he just let him go. Awful from him. He's gone backwards since the WC. Spurs hit the post. Still need 2 to win.
Champions League finalists get 16,600 tickets each in a 68,000 seater stadium. Less than half the people there will (officially) be fans of the two clubs involved. For official tickets they will pay anything ranging from £60 (20% of the tickets) to £531 (5%) with most at £154 (54%). Of course many more fans will be there from resold tickets from the neutrals and freeloaders at much higher prices. Something wrong with football. When I was living in Milan and an AC Milan season ticket holder I remember being pretty scandalised to pay about £15 for tickets to European cup finals in Barcelona then Vienna. Ok it was 30 years ago, but I don’t remember many neutrals at either of those games. Nice one Ajax. Not over yet, after last night I have no idea how this game works anymore, but Spurs are used to losing.
I just want Liverpool to win the Champions League and the Premier League, they were amazing last night, they along with Man Utd are the greatest UK teams of this generation and this year is Liverpools year! They have at times been outstanding, amazing, brilliant, oh and I don't like Man City! If it can't be QPR I will support my husbands team! Sorry if this offends anyone just my thoughts Cate
Toothless without Kane and with Son strangely out of sorts. Would of been interesting to see a full strength Spurs instead of one with a lot of injuries . Ajax don't want to be this open against Liverpool.
He really is a liability as a defender. Just goes missing. I said to my lad that ajax will target Tottenham's right side. I would bring him off, go 3 at back with sissoko and wanyama holding getting lamela on up top.
Don’t get me started about the availability of tickets......used to so **** me off when I followed England that the fans got so few and the corporates got so many AND the greedy ****s used to sell ‘em on the black market for a vast profit (my mates bought quite a few). Proud to say that I never sold a ticket for more than face value (including 3 tickets for England v Germany semifinal at Euro 96 that I was offered £5 grand for.......)
