According o George Caulkin of the Times, some of his tweets.....

£6m loan fee for Gyan sweetens bad taste for #SAFC - cash to be spent on new striker in January + other details

Considering #SAFC also saving £2m on Gyan's wages & he could be away for African Nation's Cup in Jan/Feb, fairly remarkable deal.

Became clear to club that Gyan's head turned by UAE $$$ so made best of it. Pretty awful timing, but cash there for #SAFC to spend in Jan.

Other thing to note - bulk of Gyan talks handled by Niall Quinn. As stated last night, notion he's leaving is way off mark.

Good deal for you. He wasn't looking right, his head wasn't in it.

I was just watching the motd replay of your match. are you really just 1 win out of 9 at home? That can't be can it?

If we get them to pay 10million for a permanent deal next summer, it will have been, on a financial level, a fantastic deal for us.

Just hope we dont get any serious injuries to the front line from now until Jan, as we are a bit on the light side.

Yes unfortunately it is right travelsick

Gyan looked overweight and dis-interested (and I said this after the match with Newcastle) - So we have already recouped half of his original fee to lend him to someone for a season (he's still our player)
Get's back to full form and we can now afford to sell him for £5m or £6m instead of the £13m we bought him for (as we've saved a lot on wages as well)

Lets face it you paid over the odds to begin with for a player who's not achieved much in 3 different leagues. He was on off at Udinese, had a decent time in france and on off with you again. He was never going to be Bent's replacement. Go Back into the market, find someone else. This seasons going to be tough though up in the north east. Don't see where our (newcastle) goals will come from either. Throw in the korean at the deep end I say.

And how is Ricco in the team still? What a joker yesterday on Terry's goal. Jogging about looking disinterested.

I was at the game and Ricco played well, not as good as Brown but better than Bramble who played Sturidge on side for his goal.

As for Gyan, he could have got an injury and we would be in this situation anyway, at least were getting decent money and can buy in Jan.

As far as Sturridges goal goes - it hit the post and came out, then hit Brown and went in - great piece of skill but (and I'm not blaming Brown here!!) had Brown not been there it probably would have been cleared (or had he been a milisecond later). OG in my book (although I'm pretty sure Brown wouldn't want it!)

    I love this:

    http://www.supersport.com/football/ghana/news/110912/I_dont_make_promises_Gyan

Notice the quote: “Al Ain is a big club that has quality players who are capable of doing everything to win. I cannot do it alone. As a team we can go places.”

Then he was asked by a journalist why he “left the best league in the world”.

Gyan responded by saying it is a challenge: “I made a decision with my family. The Asian league is improving very well.”

And also - the list of internationals he's playing with:

The 25-year-old’s arrival completes the foreign player quota each club can register for the coming season. Argentina’s Ignacio Scocco, Mirel Radoi of Romania and Saudi Arabia’s Yasser al-Qahtani are the other foreign players who have already signed for Al Ain. - All household names who would all get a game in the premier league!! Mercenary piece of ****

Very true and exactly what I thought, my point was if Bramble had been watching the line Sturidge would have been offside when the ball was originally played. I think the first was an OG too, it came off Bardo I think and might not have gone in had it not been for the deflection. We were unlucky with both goals, but it does not hide the fact the best team won.

Totally agree vegas - Bramble I though was poor on Saturday - not just at the back but going forward - at 1-2 he get's to the corner of the box, has the best crosser of a ball SAFC have had for seasons screaming for it out wide and chips it back to their keeper - poor positioning (and about 3 mis-kicks as well) - Get Turner in this weekend - I think he would be excellent alongside Brown and would learn a lot (Brown, so far for me, has been our best player)

Stick Ji or Wickham on (think Wickham has a better "build" for a game like Saturdays as Ji is not the biggest built player in the team!!

lol Gyan in the mail is now 23. I remember in like 2004 Gyan was a good player. That was seven years ago, he's supposed to be 25 now so he was 18 then playing for Udinese but then being droped.

Look it's Oba Martins all over again. Gyan is well over 30. He needs a big final payday. It's good you're getting money for him. He was a rotten signing for 13 mio, Bruce pulled a stinker here, he might as well admit it.
