    You haven't spoilered correctly.

Jaime isn't dying by Dany's hand. They're on the same side now, regardless other whether she's about to go completely insane or not, he probably isn't going to have any interaction with Dany in the series again. Though they do like a bit of subversion in Westeros...

That Shireen scene still haunts me. It's the only scene I skipped on my rewatch.

Good job only you read that. It was a crap theory anyway so not going to try to correct it.

Episodes have felt like two merged together this series. They could have had them around 45-50 minutes and had 8 episodes instead of 6.

I only see the Mountain killing Arya in his role as Cersei’s bodyguard, nothing more poetic. Though that said given how much they like foreshadowing / repeating the same thing twice (Arya v Brienne fight into Arya v Night King) I can see distinct parallels between the Mountain and Arya and the Mountain and the Viper.

Edit - plus Beric asking the Hound to watch Arya and using her as his inspiration at Winterfell. There’s signs there...

Along similar lines, Greyworm fights with the same weapon as Oberyn did.

Maybe someone again easily beats the Mountain with a spear, but this time doesn't do a monologue leading to their head exploding?

...and Arya started fighting with the double ended spear thing that she asked Gendry to craft for her at Winterfell, demonstrating the same proficiency with the necessary weapon.

As you say, neither she or Grey Worm are great conversationalists though so might not make the same fundamental error of judgement at the crucial moment!

Why are you using the spoiler tags in a thread that warns it may contain spoilers? Seems a little odd to me.

Force of habit. Originally the GoT talk started on a different thread.

Also people are ignorant and will always complain even if you tell them there is spoilers.

I suppose but it’ll be their own fault clicking the thread if they’re not up to date.

Personally I like keeping it safe and not spoiling it by using the spoiler function, it's there, might as well use it.

    That was... a lot

So everything just went to ****

Varys was right, the poor sod

    Everything REALLY went to ****

    **** Euron for killing Jaime

**** Jaime (or more appropriately the writers) for destroying his own character arc

    At least Cersei is dead

    Jon's pissed

    Arya's pissed

The entirety of Westeros (that are still alive) is probably pissed right now

    Tyrion ain't surviving this one

    Dany ain't surviving this one

    ****ING CLEGANEBOWL

So they just went mad queen. I'm alright with it, they've been hinting at the idea for many seasons, though I really thought they'd go with Cersei blowing up KL and making it look like Dany did it, so that she appeared mad. That would've been a nice twist.

I'm so happy we finally got Cleganebowl, and it ended the only way it could. Can't really say much about it, it was exactly what you expect. Though there was one point where I had to wince and slightly look away from the screen during it, you'll probably know if you've seen it which point it is.

    Qyburn <laugh>

One problem I do have is that once Dany starts blazing civilians, all of the armies start attacking both soldiers and civilians. Now, I can kind of get the Unsullied and Dothraki doing that, but why the **** were the northern armies doing it? Surely they would be just as pissed as Jon was? Jon had to kill some of his own soldiers ffs, that shouldn't be happening.

So glad Euron is dead, but so pissed he's the one who pretty much killed Jaime. Should've died on his ship when it got bbq'd.

Speaking of Jaime: WHY THE **** HAVE THE WHOLE REDEMPTION ARC ONLY FOR HIM TO JUST GO BACK TO CERSEI? Seriously though, what the ****? It made SO much sense for him to be going back to KL to kill her, not (attempt to) save her. **** sake. The way the reunion scene was playing out made it even slightly look like he was going to kill her, but it never comes up. Brienne deserved way better, ****ing arsehole. He was my fave character along with Theon - I'm not sure about that anymore. Not that it matters, he and Cersei are dead now.

Jon must feel like a ****ing imbecile now, he went against everyone's logical questioning and blindly followed Dany - I suppose they have hinted and mentioned that 'love is the death of duty', which is exactly what happened, but it still felt like he was being way too blind. At least he's seen the light now. He might actually end up on the throne at this point. I hope not, he should just say "**** all this" and go live with the wildlings back up in the far north.

Tyrion is absolutely ****ed at this point too, there's no way he survives the final episode - he betrayed Dany, and with her going all doolally that means he is gonna be ****ing done.

There's no way that Dany also survives the season now that she has gone radio rental. Jon's gonna kill her somehow. Though the way the ep ended it looked like Arya might hve some say in that, but as she killed the NK I'll be surprised if she gets another big one (same reason I think she never got to kill Cersei).

The visions she had back in Season 2(?) make way more sense now, when she was stood in a destroyed Red Keep that looked to be covered in snow (but obviously now it was not snow), so at least the foreshadowing there (if intentional) is great. She never gets the throne in that vision either - she ain't getting it at all in reality as well.

I will say, despite all of that, maybe I'm just deluded, but I thought the episode was absolutely brilliant and one of the best episodes they've done. I still have loved this season, despite all of it's problems. They made an absolutely massive mistake shortening the seasons.

Also... going back to the Mad Queen stuff: Season eight has been rushed, but the Mad Queen twist isn’t exactly something that should come as a total shock for those who have paid attention to her character. How many terrible things did she do in Essos that were forgiven or cheered on because she did them to bad people? Her downward spiral has been rushed no doubt, but the building blocks and signposts have been there all along. If the pacing of the show these past two seasons weren’t so wonky, maybe this would have felt more earned for the skeptics out there. But tell me, is this completely out of character for Daenerys? Hers is a tragic tale. Hell, the entire series is a massive tragedy. But the broader strokes of the show reveal this has always been a possibility, if not an inevitability.

The Mad Queen is stuff is absolutely how GRRM is going to end his books, should he ever get round to it. Guaranteed.

****ing god knows how this ending. Probably with lots of death. Seems about right.

TL;DR - Adored this episode, though there's a lot of stuff that shortening the season made way too rushed when it could've been much more fleshed out.

I won't see the episode until tonight but looking at those spoiler tags I get that strange feeling you get when you look down from the top of a tall building and a little bit of you wants to step off.....

A lot happens, that's all. That first post was pretty much straight after I watched it and I was a bit shellshocked.

One of my nephews just put me onto the book series at the Works. Was £65 but selling for £30 for the five books, although there's seven books with two of them having parts 1 and 2.
Gonna wait while after the last episode before I start the epic read. <cheers>
