    Phew, that was close.

The thought that Liverpool could win the title felt real for a while.

It's going to be a bad week for them.

I might even sign their petition for a laugh.

I can remember John Pratt driving me nuts. Hard worker in defence but with the ball at his feet the pass could finish in the River Lea.He did score some good goals though.....

I'm just wondering whether City will face the same problems as Utd once Pep leaves because there's already talk of his going to Italy. Pep's a hard act to follow as SAF's departure is proving at Utd. I hope it won't be Mourinho ever again in the EPL, it's so much better without him.

Here's something which will make you guys laugh (and made me cry):

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...ers-arsenal-marks-start-major-squad-overhaul/

Who the hell thought it was a good idea to put Welbeck on £115k p/w?!?

To put that into perspective, we will be saving £325k p/w on wages from Ramsey, Welbeck and Cech's departures alone. And even then, Mesut Ozil's wages exceed the extortionate wages those 3 were on. <laugh>

This club is going to be the death of me I swear...

Yet people attacked Levy for paying wages within our means. Who are the stupid ones?

The problem you face : Parkinsons Law.

Any REMAINING players you spun a yarn to regarding why they are not
paid as much as others, may now demand a bigger slice of the EXISTING pie.
Especially those who are in the final year of their contract this summer.

Nah, what you've done is absolutely the right thing. Your best players earn the most and are tied up on long-term contracts, with the other players earning less. If those players kick up a fuss about it, move them on and replace, which won't be hard to do as they aren't on astronomical wages and you have a decent scouting network, so the other players you target won't instantly demand parity for what your higher-paid players are getting.

This is what we should have done, but instead, a lot of players are paid similar money across the board no matter their value to the squad. It set a dangerous precedent and it backfired on us. Terribly.

We are quite fortunate in the sense that players whose contracts expire this Summer are Jenkinson, Monreal, Cech, Ramsey, Welbeck and Lichtsteiner. The only player whose contract expires in 2020 is Laurent Koscielny, but he will be 34 next season and needs replacing anyway.

We are reportedly looking for younger, cheaper players in the 21-24 age bracket who have higher resale value than the ageing players we currently have.

With this looking like our 3rd consecutive season outside the Champions League, and a wage bill that is unsustainable, this is the approach we will have to adopt.

The Levy plan. Worrying if you choose that, it will be painful at first, but pay dividends in the long term. Nevertheless, be prepared to be bombarded by sh!te from the 'we know what we want and we want it now' brigade, I guess you already know who they are.

It is a difficult path as well because not all youngsters will join. In the last 12 months we have signed no one, but we have tried. Grealish and De Ligt are the obvious examples. Both deals didn't go through unfortunately.
