Josh Parker plumbed new depths when he came on at Gillingham on Saturday. Our good natured and genteel away following quickly broke off from throwing plastic seats and tossing fireworks to abuse Parker.

He failed to jump for challenges, he gave the ball away with heavy first touches, and in one comical incident, failed to pass the ball successfully 3 yards to a team mate.

Is Josh Parker the worst striker at Charlton in the Duchatelet era ?

In all honesty Mak was better than Parker wasn't he.. I would order them (with worst as #1)

    1. Parker
    2. Peter Parsley
    3. BigMac

Rezza had some ability when he could be bothered!

I would say Parker is the worst.

You can see why an appalling Gillingham side realised him.

Hanlon played for them on Saturday, and he is krap

The bloke is clearly not good enough. You don't get released by Gillingham halfway during a season if you are any good.

The blame lies with the owner not giving Bowyer some money from the Grant sale, instead of getting so desperate he had to bring in Parker at the last minute, just to bump up the forward line in case of injuries.

I ageee with that. What rubbed salt in the wounds with Parker was Bowyer saying that Gallen had worked with him at QPR and that he was a good player etc... he was trying to polish the turd.

If we don’t go up & get taken over I can see Josh Parker getting a contract for next season.

Not for the money Duchatelet is willing to pay. Don’t forget Liar de Turk has a mission to cut costs.

Parker was guilty of a terrible miss yesterday. Inside the 6 yard box, with the goal at his mercy....and he put it wide. The crowd’s reaction to him was one of derision rather than anger ...”if Parker scores, we’re on the pitch”.

Shockingly sh1t player, he must be released this summer regardless of promotion.

I think they will have to offer a contract next season if we don’t go up...

Honest opinion, his miss was terrible but he dragged defenders around with his willing runs , granted no one played him in but if you have played at any level you can tell he was a nuisance yesterday, is he the answer no but he is certainly not a waste of space ,strikers job is also to make space for other players and he did that

The above is why you post on the apologists forum, the f***** was released from Gillingham with 6 months left on his contract, they were floundering down at the bottom.

I'll leave others to comment on his ability.

    • Ernie that is possibly the weakest reply ever even by your ridiculously low standards, and you mention the zzzzzz word apologists.
      Up your game boyman

Naaty thread to be honest. Parker missed a sitter yesterday, but he worked and worked. He never hid, kept trying to cause problems at the back, and provoked a blatant red that wasn't given. He isn't a replacement for Grant, but that's RD's fault not his. You can't ask anyone for more than their best, and I get the impression he is giving

    How’s it a nasty thread ?

Parker gets well paid by Charlton, and players have attracted praise & flak for as long as football has existed. It’s part of the game.

Parker works hard enough, but he is simply useless. In his last two cameo appearances at Gillingham and again v Rochdale, he must have given away possession xxxxx times with his poor control & touches.

It will be a sign of Charlton’s institutional decline if Parker gets a contract next season.

Nothing personal against Big Mak or Parker, they both tried their best, but we should never have signed either. The real abuse has to be saved for the likes of Piggybank, who didn't try, but we could become a dumping ground for unwanted players if there is no change in ownership.

Vetekole is out of contract this June and presumably will not be getting a new one.

It’s very hard to see 20 goal POTY Lyle Taylor staying if Duchatelet is still here - LT will be sold, it’s what the Belgians do.

Does Parker become the cheap default option for next season?
