Greetings from a sunny terrace in Central France. The bread van has just delivered. And coffee and croissant sur la terrasse.. Peace on earth [emoji6] Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk
Morning all. Bright and sunny here also. Our bread van doesn't come any more, so I make my trip to the baker instead. The one who did come had bread that had not been freshly baked, so people stopped buying it. Now we fetch a loaf for those who do not have a car, so they are looked after.
Morning all. Making the tea for Mrs Fez who is snoozing. Planning on spending a lazy day. Theatre tonight, Sir Ian McKellen one man tour and back to the grind tomorrow...
Just survived the Fioul (oil for the heating) delivery which takes some forward planning and some technical francais... Tomorrow morning the bank. Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk
Morning all from a lovely sunny part of the country. Plenty to do today, and I am sill aching from yesterday. I go away for a week, and find that everything has grown at a ridiculous rate. To cut the grass requires the blades to be set high as it is so tall, meaning that in the next couple of days I will have to go over it all again. Still the main thing to do today is to get the hoe moving and erect the poles for the runner beans.
Warm morning here too, breakfast on the terrace before shopping and banking... Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
Been hard at it all day, and was rather glad when it started to rain, giving me an excuse to stop. Was joined down the field by a cuckoo. I often hear them some distance away, but rarely have them close enough to see. Much better when they keep their distance.
Oh the joys of our cottage in la Belle France. Cold, wet, and Bank holidays all the time. However, yesterday was a first. We went to Civray, pretty little town about 20km away. Market day, always fun, nice bar for coffee in square. But, important, we went into CA bank (our bank here), to pay in some euros to cover our monthly commitments over the next year. Bank clerk took our card, then said she couldn’t access our account. Why ? Because our account is in a branch in a different department! Unbelievable! But that’s how it is. Some of France’s efforts to preserve their local identity are frankly ludicrous! Still, the benefits- lovely neighbours, delightful food, gentle pace of life, beautiful municipal swimming pool, simple house with little to go wrong (thankfully the macerator started first time) - all add up. Bon chance, tout Le monde!
Morning all. Wet and windy here for the public holiday. As Mme has her birthday tomorrow we are off to spend the day with our daughter and grand-daughters, who will no doubt ensure that she has a cake with a small number of candles. I know Civray well, and have been into two of the bars in the square. My CA account is at the local branch 8 kms away, but my neighbour has his with the larger branch 25 kms away. Even between two branches of the same bank, in the same department there are transactions that he cannot access from the local branch. Banking is very different here to the UK. I receive e-mails to tell me that CA have a sale, and that I could borrow money for 0% interest if I sign up within the next few days. I never notice my UK bank having a sale.
