I never quite get this type of thought Susan. When I pay money to watch Saints it’s because i like football and have a bizarre pull to go and watch them play. I don’t go there thinking they must win or do well today because I’ve purchased a ticket and paid for travel. Yes I want them to do well, win or try hard for me, but the cost I pay never has a bearing. If that was the case I’d have been wiser to choose a different team. I do think that if I’m watching a film or a play/musical. It’s difficult to explain really, but I choose to follow my team and pay those costs. I never use that as a mark of my expectations. If I moved away or could only watch another team that I didn’t “support” then maybe I’d feel I could complain, but the if that was the case I’d say “feck it” and watch someone or something else. Not when it’s my team though. I do that because of some illness
Yeah, on the whole I agree with you. If yesterday was for the greater good, then I'm satisfied, because Ralph has earned our trust. But even though I agree, I'd still be disappointed if I'd attended the game. That's just how it is.
Agreed. We should all know the risk when buying a Saints ticket! In the same sense that when I go and Saints are incredible (Spurs/Arsenal at home) then I dont feel as if i should be paying the club more for the good performance.
Two **** seasons. Real slogs to get over the line. Why the hell should people be happy with seeing the fringe (a kind term for the ones we will be jettisoning with any luck) being selected? And another meek display, where we get our arse handed to us by a weakened West Ham who 'six point' us for the first time in what, 18 years? And have a player score another brace, for what the third or forth game running? Why should I be happy Ralph is having a look at some players, that's his prerogative, but mine is to be able to moan about it. I've sat through enough crap performances, and stressed myself with worry of relegation over the last two seasons to want to see my hero's, the players I've come to adore.....you know, the one's who with Ralphs help have dug us out of this hole, play with freedom & excitement & push mid table teams like WHU for the points. Now, as I have already said, its Ralph's choice, but don't be surprised if I'm not happy, I've earned my right to moan, along with others. Personally I cannot wait to get shot of a few, and if they play again......they are less likely to go!!!! We are still on the same page as the people not moaning, but we just want to see the season out with some flair, some goals, and maybe to climb a couple places. There's nothing wrong with that.
Surely every fan wants the club to do as well as possible? If Ralph think it is in our interest to see what the fringe players are capable of / put them in the shop window for the last 2 games then i am happy to put my trust in him!
Read it again. It addresses what you have just put. Ralph is entitled, but we are entitled as well. Don't need other fans lording it over me telling me they are surprised I'm not happy. I'll damn well moan if I want.
I did read that part, I was coming from the angle that if thats what Ralph thinks is the right call, then fans shouldn't moan so long as they trust him to get it right.
I trust him. I actually feel a bit sorry for him. I said a while back, his main mission wasn't keeping us up, it was trimming this obese squad. He already know's who he wants out. Its a very tough job.
Hang on a bit HR.........nobody is saying you shouldn’t have a moan. From what I gather is all they were saying they were surprised by what you were saying regarding the fringe players. Nobody was trying lord it over you. They too just have a different opinion.
No-one is “Lording it” over anyone, but you can damn well take it that way if you want. Your entitled to post your view as others are entitled to damn well post theirs... With every situation there is going to be more than one way of looking at it. Don’t get upset or take things personally if someone says something that contradicts your view. It’s not personal.
I always liked a good moan but never moaned about anything that I could change if I could be arsed and never moaned about anything over which I had no control or influence and had no power to change. The end result was I stopped moaning and see moaning as a waste of energy. If you don't like something and can't change it then **** of and do something else.
I attended the game and I was disappointed. When the tickets were booked this looked like it was going to be an important match. It was nice to be stress free, but the game was nothing more than an overblown friendly, played at a half pace. It was dull and West Ham didn’t have to do anything remotely exceptional to gain a comfortable win. One of those days where you join the fans who make it more about the drink than the game itself
We can now only go up the league by one place if we win (by a couple of goals) against Huddersfield and Burnley lose or draw. However, after our start to the season 15th or 16th is totally acceptable Ralph has improved a mixed bag of a team and generally improved the match experience after the last couple of seasons, but we aren't the side that gained promotion and played so well together for Adkins, Poch and Koeman. He's turned a sow's ear into a better looking sow's ear....let's hope it's a silk purse next season.
He has done more than that. He has done what everyone said he couldnt. He hasn't added to the squad at all. He has done what is famously said to be impossible. Ralph has polished a turd!
Just seen the highlights on MotD. I'm going to go out on a limb here about Forster. Second goal: Fraser parries a damned hard shot from about twelve yards. It would have landed out at the edge of the penalty area but for hitting a player and bouncing up perfectly to be finished off. Good save followed by bad luck. Third goal: I'd only seen it live on a five inch screen. The shot was deflected by Stephens. If I were Ralph, I wouldn't have any fear about playing Fraser again. But I wouldn't do it at home because the crowd will be full of other people who share the attitude that he can do no right. Vin
