Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Date - Sunday, 5 May 2019 Kick off - 12.30 Venue - Ewood Park Following their 1-1 draw against play-off hopefuls Derby County in the final home match of the season, next up for Graham Potter’s Swansea squad is the final Championship match of the season - a trip to former PL Champions, Blackburn Rovers. In Wednesday’s match at the Liberty, Derby missed the chance to all-but secure their place in the Championship play-offs. Richard Keogh headed in powerfully from a corner to put the visitors in front during a controlled first-half display. Following a couple of substitutions and a change of formation at half-time, the Swans upped their game significantly in the second half and Wayne Routledge levelled from a rebound. At the end, a draw was probably a fair result. Derby remain in 6th spot and the Swans rose to 9th. Reports suggest that Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray could turn to youth for their final Championship match of the season against the Swans. The Rovers manager has said he would "like to give some younger players a chance", with 21-year-old Harry Chapman in contention to make his first start. Swansea, similarly, will have little to play for even though the point against the Rams lifted them up to ninth in the Championship table. The match could see the final time that a number of Jacks will be seen in white - Daniel James and Wayne Routledge amongst them. For that reason, plus the fact that Rovers may field an experimental side, I’m going for a 1-2 victory for the Swans. Finally, this is my last Match Day thread - PGF is (hopefully) picking up the role next season and I wish him well. I hope he enjoys it as much as I have these last few seasons!
Cheers Taff, I'm not sure about take up the Match Day mantle, perhaps it could be shared around by a few people - although I could always take precedence from some of my previous Match Day Threads, such as Swansea City v Millwall. Discuss! Thanks for all your efforts though Taff. I'm sure everyone on the forum appreciates the work you have been doing behind the scenes. On to tomorrows match, both sides could well be using the opportunity to blood a few youngsters - and why not? I'm hoping for a Swans 2-1 win dedicated to the Travelling Jacks who will be making another journey up the M5/M6 this weekend. Up the Swans!
Cheers PGF - if you can’t write a thread for any reason, let me know and I’d be more than happy to stand-in now and again
What an emotional moment! Well done Taff and many thanks for all your efforts. I am going for a 2-1 win for the Swans
Don't care anymore about this season.....But a big well done to Newport for reaching the playoffs......Good luck to them.....
No Dan James - making sure that he doesn’t get injured in a ‘nothing’ game? McKay and Naughton are the other changes - but they are on the bench.
Thanks for the write ups Taff I've enjoyed reading them. PGF......he's set the standard, good luck. Today 4-4
