I would have had Janssen start this game instead of Dele, who's been terrible for a while now. How he keeps getting picked is beyond me. It's like we're playing with 10 men from the off. If he wants to concentrate on Fortnite or his clothing business then he can sod off, as far as I'm concerned. There was a time when I thought he might be captain material but alas he has regressed.
Not sure I understand. I think it has been a bizarre season for Chelsea, United, Arsenal and ourselves. We are all resembling marathon runners who have hit the wall. If any had played well they'd have 3rd place sewn up. Not sure I have read anyone saying that they have veen unlucky while we have been poor. Last week I went to the West Ham match and the Ajax match. I didn't have anything negative to say (other than my jokey RCL reverse jinx stuff) as the team were professional and disciplined. We were over powered by west ham in the second half and by Ajax for the first 30 mins. Both teams played well but we played and lost as a team. The same can not be said today until we went down to 9 men. Son should NEVER have responded...he is an experienced player. We had them on the ropes. Dier should not have been so reckless after his booking. It was this that meant he had to be subbed at half time. Foyth was reckless, he may not of meant it but it was a red and any other decision would have been lucky. Trippier, Toby, Dele, Dier, Sissoko and Son have 4 or 5 years premier league experience and Eriksen and Lloris have 7 or so years. Rose has 9 years. All are experienced internationals. There is no way that we should have let them derail our game. They were rocking on their heels after 25 mins yet we allowed them to turn it into a battle. Yeah, the bloke had a dig at Son so who was crowding the ref complaining? That's what professions do...pushing him gave him the chance to play act. Son could have fallen, could have complained but it was plainly stupid to push him as the ref was already under pressure due to not sending Dier off and refs often then "make amends"... experienced plsyers should know this. Like I said, that was a yellow at worst but imo the near panic and frustration was building from the minute Dier could have been sent off. Someone should have been walkjng foyth through the opening minutes of the half. Not one of our experienced players took control from when they started trying to turn it into a battle. I honestly do not understand how me criticising this performance and most of the players (which is a rarity for me) constitutes over reacting. I simply disagree that the ref was to blame. I have defended every player at points this season as they are running on empty but I ain't defending that level of ill discipline by professional footballers. Telling me I am "over reacting" holds as little water as when I have been told I am celebrating mediocrity by defending our spending.
Troy Parrott...last seen being stretchered off Jack Roles...who seems likely to leave this summer when his contract expires J'Neil Bennett...although he's yet another winger who happens to score goals Rodel Richards...who is just back from an injury layoff Don't suppose we can have Kaziah Sterling back ahead of schedule?
That's the most annoying part: a win in either of our last two matches would've been a reason to give one or two of the first team a rest and bring in someone like Skipp or Marsh so one or two of the first team get a rest, but ****ing up both of them means they absolutely can't have one...although Son and Foyth both get one by default
I would like to see a new player at Spurs next season who will be a strong captain and hates to lose. I wonder where he is...……?
RCL it's really rare for me to disagree with you and in this case I can see where you are coming from but I do not agree with you that the ref played no part. I think his was the MAJOR part. Yes you can say that our players should have kept their cool and Dier is not the best at this plus his timing is not on top form because of the games he has missed. Son however was almost beaten up and offered no protection from this pathetic referee I would have just lumped the players in the face tbh. So from my perspective Son WAS restrained. The referee was not in control of this game and was swayed by a baying crowd. Having said all that professional players should expect this and should not be drawn but the provocation was high and I sympathise because they are our Spurs players and we are not an inherent bad team.
Don't read the forum then, it's quite simple really. No, we ruined this game. Son reacted stupidly, it's a soft red but it's the letter of the law these days that you can't react like that. Foyth unfortunately tried too hard to keep possession to the point where he over-stretched and studded a Bournemouth player's knee. Ref made the correct calls. Sure a few challenges from Bournemouth could've been punished but in a 90 minute game those sort of challenges generally even themselves out, for instance Dier should've had a second yellow and then after that should've conceded a penalty. Blaming the ref for our stupidity is a cop out. That's our 7th loss in 11 league games. Diabolical form for a club who just a couple months back were supposedly in the title race, if you listened to some of our players.
I was there today and from where I was, I had no idea if Son deserved his red. Having now seen a replay, I have to concede he probably did. For a split second, there is clear anger on his face, and although his reaction is spontaneous and understandable, it remains a justifiable red. Foyth’s is clearly a red. The lad is out of control. For what it’s worth, the Bournemouth crowd do not “bay” and neither was the referee imho influenced by them today. We were the victims of our own downfall here. To have lost13 league games so far, is inexcusable and to question the players attitude and the mangers performances this year are well justified. The CL semi final place has masked the clear problems we have with the current squad.
It's cool to disagree mate...kind of felt vimhawk was beyond patronising telling me he remembered relegation and that things could be far worse (while responding to stuff I hadn't said) so maybe I lumped you in by mistake. Son will have a big point to mske on Wednesday so .... fingers crossed!
The attitude of the Utd and Chelsea players has undoubtedly been questionable this season. Very questionable. At times, Arsenal's players haven't shown the spirit and determination expected either - especially away from home. Spurs have looked very flat in the PL for the past two months. Consciously or otherwise, the CL has been prioritised. There have also been a few players who have shown signs of discontentment of the past year or so (Rose, Alderweireld). That doesn't help. None of the teams in 3rd to 6th place at present look like it really matters to them that they win every game - whereas it clearly does to the top two. Momentum is a big factor in football too. Players can't drop a level or two for certain games and then be expected to play at their best when required.
I didn't mean it to be patronising, that is just how you took it. This discussion has clearly passed me by. Goodbye.
